Mahindra, Ford sign agreement to co-develop midsize SUV

Mahindra and Ford have signed an agreement to co-develop a midsize SUV. The two carmakers will work together to build a new product for India and other emerging markets. Both brands will share the platform and powertrain of the new midsize SUV (C-SUV).

In March 2018, the Mahindra Group and Ford Motor Company had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop two new SUVs and a small electric car.

Besides this, the two companies will also collaborate in areas of electrification, distribution and product development. Mahindra will develop a low-displacement petrol engine that will be offered in Ford vehicles starting 2020. The two car makers will also jointly develop a telematics control unit.
