Mahindra Roxor ATV unveiled in the USA

Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA) has unveiled its first all-terrain vehicle for the US market. The Mahindra Roxor is positioned in the Side x Side powersports segment and is available in two variants - base and Limited Edition (LE). The vehicle will be manufactured in the company's Detroit plant and sold through a new powersports dealer network.

The new Roxor is based on a boxed steel frame. It measures 3,759 mm in overall length, 1,575 mm in width and 1,905 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,438 mm while ground clearance is 229 mm. The Roxor weighs 1,377 kg (kerb weight) and has a towing capacity of 1,583 kg, while the rear bed can hold up to 158 kg. It comes with a 45-litre fuel tank.

The design of the Roxor is inspired by the classic CJ series Jeep. It has a 5-slat grille in the front flanked by circular headlamps. At the rear, it gets a side-hinged tail gate and rectangular tail lamps. The vehicle has two seats and a roll cage and it does not have doors or even a windshield. The interior is basic, albeit functional with a circular, white-faced speedometer positioned in the centre of the dashboard, a three-spoke steering wheel and a grab handle on the passenger side.

The Limited Edition or LE Package comes with a soft top, a 3,629 kg winch, front bumper with mounting plate and battery, a 40-inch roof-mounted light bar, side and rear view mirrors, grab handles and BG Goodrich KO2 radial off-road tyres.

The Roxor is powered by a 2.5-litre, m2DiCR turbocharged diesel engine that produces 61 BHP @ 3,200 rpm and 195 Nm of torque @ 1,400-2,200 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and has 4WD with a 2-speed transfer case. The Roxor has a claimed top speed of 72 km/h and a maximum towing speed of 24 km/h. The vehicle rides on 16-inch steel wheels shod with 235/70 R16 tyres, while aluminium wheels are optional. It has a rigid leaf spring suspension in the front and leaf springs with shock absorbers in the rear. It uses disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear.

The Mahindra Roxor is available in four colour options - Carbon Black, Classic White, Fire Orange and Tahoe Blue.
