Mahindra Thar 5-door to get 1.5L Diesel engine option

Mahindra dealerships have started accepting unofficial bookings for the Thar Armada.

According to a media report, Mahindra will offer the 1.5-litre diesel engine as an option on the upcoming Thar 5-door.

The Thar 5-door, likely to be named 'Thar Armada', is expected to get three engine options in total. These include the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel offered on the entry-level variants, a 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol.

The same set of engines is available on the standard Thar, with the 1.5L being the least expensive of the three powertrain options. It develops 115 BHP and 300 Nm. The entry-level variants of the Thar Armada will also miss out on 4WD.

The report also states that certain Mahindra dealerships have started accepting unofficial bookings for the Thar Armada. The booking amount ranges from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 and varies from dealer to dealer.

Rumours also suggest that the Thar Armada could be officially launched on August 15, 2024.
