New spy images of the Mahindra Thar have surfaced online. The test car was fitted with emissions testing equipment, which suggests it could have the rumoured, more powerful 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine under the bonnet.
The 180 mStallion turbo-petrol engine is expected to be introduced around mid-2021. It will use the familiar 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder block but will have a slightly higher output. The top speed of the Thar is also expected to increase from 150 km/h to 180 km/h.
At present, the Thar is available with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 150 BHP and 320 Nm as well as a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel that makes 130 BHP and 320 Nm. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
