Mahindra XUV500 facelift to be launched on May 25

Mahindra will launch the XUV500 facelift on May 25, 2015. The company has released a teaser on its website and give us a glimpse of what we can expect.

The XUV500 is expected to get a new top-of-the-line variant. Dubbed W10, it is expected to be priced approximately Rs. 1 lakh more than the W8. It will be equipped with a new DVD-compatible infotainment system with a 7-inch screen, which will double up as a display for the reversing camera, a start/stop button, a new black and beige interior. It will also be equipped with all the features that we had seen on the XUV 500 Xclusive Edition and the ORVMs of the car will get a new light on the lower surface, which lights up the road with "XUV500" lettering when they are open.

Through the teaser, Mahindra has revealed that the vehicle will also get a voice messaging system which will warn the occupants if a door of the car is open or if the handbrake is engaged or someone is not wearing a seatbelt.

Among the cosmetic changes are a restyled hood, a pair of restyled headlamp clusters with projector units, chrome inserts and S-shaped guide lights, new turn indicators, a new grille with a honeycomb mesh design pattern with a horizontal chrome strip running at the top and Scorpio-like floating black slats with chrome inserts. The bumper of the car is also redesigned and houses a wider air dam and restyled fog lamps with chrome surrounds. The XUV500 also gets a new set of alloy wheels.

The interiors of the XUV500 are also expected to be improved. The crossover is likely to carry over the 2.2-litre, 140 BHP diesel engine as the current model. The car is not likely to get an automatic gearbox.
