Maruti Brezza: Mild-hybrid tech relaunched in top manual variants

Maruti Suzuki discontinued the mild-hybrid manual versions back in July last year.

Maruti Suzuki has reintroduced its mild-hybrid tech in top variants of the Brezza. The 1.5L K15C mild-hybrid engine is now available in ZXI MT and ZXI+ MT trims.

Maruti Suzuki discontinued the mild-hybrid manual versions back in July last year. Since then, only the automatic version has been available with the mild-hybrid tech. The carmaker had also made a few changes to the equipment list, adding features like seatbelt reminders for all seats, a 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, ESP and hill-hold assist.

The Brezza is available with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It produces 102 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 137 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The mild-hybrid tech comes with features like brake energy regeneration, idle start/stop and torque assist that is said to improve overall fuel efficiency. Maruti claims a fuel economy of 19.89 km/l.

The Brezza is also available with a factory-fitted CNG option. It uses the same 1.5-litre engine which produces 87 BHP and 121.5 Nm in CNG mode.
