Maruti, Hyundai, Mahindra & more halt car production

Carmakers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra and Toyota have decided to temporarily halt production amidst the coronavirus crisis.

Maruti Suzuki has halted production and office operations at its Gurugram and Manesar units in Haryana state. The company's R&D facility in Rohtak has also been shut down until further notice.

Hyundai has shut down its production facility in Chennai for an indefinite period, starting March 23, 2020. Mahindra has also decided to suspend manufacturing operations at its Nagpur, Chakan (Pune) and Kandivali (Mumbai) plants.

Similarly, Toyota has also decided to temporarily halt production at its Bidadi plant in Karnataka until further notice. The carmaker has also expanded 'Work From Home' for all its employees in its Regional SBUs (Strategic Business Units) in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata & Bangalore.

Tata Motors will be scaling down operations at its Pune plant by the end of Monday, March 23, 2020 and will be ready for a complete closure by the end of Tuesday. If required, the facility will remain closed till March 31, 2020.
