New car launches in India in April 2022
Here is a look at all the important car launches expected to take place in April 2022.
Honda City Hybrid
Honda is all set to launch its first mainstream hybrid offering in India. The new Honda City Hybrid is scheduled be unveiled on April 14.
The car will be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 97 BHP and 127 Nm. It is paired with two electric motors. While one of them acts as an integrated starter generator (ISG), the other powers the front wheels via a fixed ratio gearbox. It makes 108 BHP and 253 Nm.
Maruti Ertiga & XL6 facelift
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the updated versions of its popular MPV offerings - the Ertiga & XL6 in the Indian market. While the Ertiga facelift is expected to launch in mid-April, the XL6 could go on sale by the end of the month.
Both the Ertiga and XL6 facelift versions will feature a number of cosmetic changes. The MPVs will continue to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, producing 103 BHP and 138 Nm. It will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission (replacing the old 4-speed auto unit).
Tata Electric EV
Tata has released teasers of an all-new electric SUV concept, scheduled to be unveiled on April 6.
The new Tata electric SUV concept is speculated to be the precursor to the Nexon Coupe EV. More details of the upcoming concept are yet to be announced.
Volkswagen Virtus
Although Volkswagen hasn't announced the exact launch dates of the upcoming Virtus, the mid-size sedan is expected to go on sale sometime this month. The company recently announced the start of production of the Virtus at its facility in Chakan, Pune.
The Virtus will be available in two trims - Dynamic Line and Performance Line. The former is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 113 BHP and 175 Nm, while the Performance Line comes packed with a 1.5-litre TSI engine that puts out 148 BHP and 250 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DSG.
Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition
Volkswagen announced that it will soon be discontinuing its popular Polo from the Indian market. Ahead of the hatchback being discontinued the company has launched a special 'Legend Edition', celebrating 12 years of the Polo in India.
The Legend Edition is based on the Polo GT TSI. It gets "Legend" badges on the fender and boot, side body graphics, black roof foil and black trim on the boot lid.
Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo Edition
Skoda could introduce the 'Monte Carlo' edition of the Kushaq sometime this month in the Indian market. Compared to the regular Kushaq, the Monte Carlo edition will get a few cosmetic changes. It will, however, remain mechanically identical. Skoda will offer the Monte Carlo edition on both, the 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI engines.
Hyundai Creta Knight Edition
Hyundai could launch a Knight Edition version of its Creta SUV in the Indian market. The Creta Knight Edition will come with a number of cosmetic updates along with a few additional features. The Knight Edition could be offered in the S, S+ and SX(O) variants, all of which will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.
