Record 10,501 Vernas to be exported to the Middle East

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has received a record initial export order of 10,501 units for the next-gen Verna from the Middle East markets, where it will be sold as the next-gen Accent. In 2018, HMIL will start exporting the model to South Africa and other countries in Asia as well.

On September 21, 2017, HMIL had invited 33 distributors from different countries including Saudi Arabia, Oman and UAE to its Chennai factory where they were given a detailed plant tour, product presentations and test drives of the next-gen Verna. Representatives from South-East Asian countries Vietnam, Philippines, Sri Lanka, etc. also attended the event.

The next-gen Verna was launched in India on August 22, 2017 with prices starting at Rs. 8.00 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Hyundai claims that it has received 18,600 bookings since launch. In India, the Verna is offered with a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which produces 121 BHP and 151 Nm and a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which puts out 126 BHP and 260 Nm of torque. Both engines are offered with the choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmissions.
