Rumour: Kawasaki homologating Ninja ZX-6R for India

According to a media report, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has been undergoing homologation testing at ARAI, which suggests that the bike could be launched in India.

The Ninja ZX-6R will be positioned in the supersport segment. It is based on an aluminium frame and measures 2,085 mm in length, 706 mm in width and 1,115 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 1,394 mm and the seat is set at a height of 831 mm. The bike weighs 194 kg (kerb weight) and comes with a 17-litre fuel tank.

The Ninja ZX-6R features twin sweptback headlamps with a triangular vent in between, while the turn signals are positioned on the side fairings. It has a split seat and a single side-mounted exhaust. 

The bike is powered by a 636cc, liquid-cooled, in-line 4-cylinder engine, which is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It makes 129 BHP @ 13,500 rpm and 71 Nm of peak torque @ 11,500 rpm. With an optional ram air intake, power is bumped up to 135 BHP. It features 41 mm Showa inverted front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by dual 310 mm petal type discs with 4-piston Nissin calipers at the front and a single 210 mm disc at the rear with a 1-piston caliper. The ZX-6R comes equipped with traction control, Power Mode and ABS.
