Rumour: Mahindra U321 MPV to be launched in Q1 2018

Mahindra will reportedly launch its new MPV (codenamed U321) in Q1 2018. The new model will be based on a monocoque chassis unlike the Xylo’s ladder frame construction.

Test mules of the upcoming model have been spotted in the recent past giving us a glimpse of its new exterior and redesigned cabin. Latest spy images suggest that the U321 MPV will have a cab-forward design with a high roof line and a steeply raked front windshield. The front end will feature Mahindra’s revised 7-slat grille flanked by wraparound headlights. The bumper will house the fog lamps and LED daytime running lights. Inside, the U321 MPV will get a new, dual-tone dashboard. Higher variants will come with features like automatic climate control and touchscreen infotainment system among others.

It has been reported that the U321 MPV will be the first model to use a new 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine from the mFalcon family. This engine has been co-developed with Ssangyong and is expected to produce around 130 hp.

The Mahindra U321 MPV is expected to take on the Toyota Innova Crysta in the premium MPV segment.
