Tata to introduce a new performance brand by the end of 2015

Tata Motors is taking every possible step to re-build a strong, desirable image in the minds of the Indian consumers. The company has been focusing on all those factors which had hampered its brand image and is gradually trying to iron out all its past mistakes.

One step in its image makeover journey is an all new performance brand, which is planned to be introduced towards the end of 2015. An official announcement is likely to be made in the second half of 2015.

The company will be displaying a performance version of its newly launched Bolt hatchback at the Geneva Show. This car will wear the performance brand badge when it enters into mass production. It will be powered by the same 1.2 liter Revotron petrol engine with a higher state of tune. Power is likely to be bumped up from 89 BHP to 120 BHP. Torque figures too will go up, to handle which, Tata will mate this engine to Fiat's C501 gearbox (which does duty on the diesel Bolt).

Apart from a more powerful engine, this car will feature a wide bodykit and 17" wheels. The overall stance of the car will be modified suitably and the car will feature a suspension tuned befitting its sportier pretense. The company had earlier teased us with the Indica Vista Concept S and Vista Concept S2 in the past but remained as concepts at the end of the day. Let's hope the sportier Bolt enters becomes a reality.

The average automobile enthusiast in India realizes the dearth of a performance hatchback in our market. Tata has potentially identified this demand gap. Let's hope, that unlike Fiat who still hasn't brought in the Abarth to India, Tata make the first move to satisfy us enthusiasts.
