Updated Volvo V40 range launched in India

Volvo has launched the updated V40 and V40 Cross Country in India. Prices of the V40 start from Rs. 25.49 lakh, while those of the V40 Cross Country start from Rs. 27.2 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The V40 hatchback is still the most affordable Volvo car sold in the country.

The updated cars come with Volvo's latest Thor's hammer headlights that were previously seen on the S90 and XC90. Both cars also come with a pedestrian airbag as standard. The V40 and the V40 Cross Country are the first cars in the Indian market to come with a pedestrian airbag. Both updated models also get a redesigned front grille and a new set of alloy wheels. On the inside, the V40 is offered with 3 leather trims, while the V40 Cross Country gets 5 leather trim options. Features on offer include a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, electrically operated front seats, rear parking camera, park assist and a panoramic sunroof.

Volvo has equipped the V40 range of cars with various passive and active safety features like pedestrian airbag, 2-stage front airbags, driver knee airbag, front seatbelt pretensioners, dynamic stability & traction control, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and emergency brake assist.

Powering the V40 is a 2.0-litre D3 diesel engine that churns out 148 BHP and 320 Nm of torque. The V40 Cross Country also gets a T4 petrol engine, which is a 2.0-litre unit rated at 177 BHP and 240 Nm. Both these engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

• V40 D3 Kinetic - Rs. 25.49 Lakh
• V40 D3 R-Design - Rs. 28.53 Lakh
• V40 CC T4 Momentum - Rs. 27.2 Lakh
• V40 CC D3 Inscription - Rs. 29.4 Lakh
