VinFast breaks ground on its first EV manufacturing unit in India

VinFast plans to introduce 2-3 electric SUVs in India, starting with the VF e-34 crossover.

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has broken ground on its first integrated EV manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India. 

VinFast India's manufacturing unit is located in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, and is spread over 400 acres within the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) industrial estate. The factory is being set up with a total initial investment of $500 million over 5 years. It has an annual projected capacity of 1,50,000 units and is expected to create 3,000 to 3,500 jobs in the region.

In addition to the manufacturing facilities, VinFast plans to establish a nationwide dealership network.

VinFast plans to introduce 2-3 electric SUVs in India, starting with the VF e-34 crossover. The carmaker also plans to bring the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs to India.
