The Mahindra Bolero line-up has received a new model named the Bolero Power+. The Bolero Power+ is powered by a new mHawkD70 engine. Priced at Rs. 6.59 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), the new Bolero is almost a lakh cheaper than the regular model. It is available in three variants: SLE, SLX, and ZLX.
The new 1.5-litre, three-cylinder mHawkD70 engine powering the Bolero Power+ is capable of generating 70 BHP and a peak torque of 195 Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It has an ARAI certified fuel economy figure of 16.5 km/l. Mahindra claims that the new model is 13% more powerful and 5% more efficient than the regular Bolero. To bring things in perspective, the regular Bolero is powered by a 2.5-litre, engine that develops 63 BHP and 195 Nm of torque. The bigger engine also has a slightly lower fuel economy figure of 15.96 km/l.
The Bolero Power+ measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,745 mm in width, and is 1,880mm high. This shows that the designers have kept the width and height of the new model identical to the regular Bolero, though the length has been altered by 112 mm to take advantage of the lower excise duty applicable on under-4-meter cars. Interestingly, there is no change in the cabin dimensions of the mini Bolero, as the length reduction has been achieved by trimming the bulky front and rear bumpers. This means that the new model is still a 7-seater, with two jump seats in the third row.
The Mahindra Bolero Power+ variant-wise prices are as follows: (ex-showroom Mumbai)
Bolero Power+ SLE - Rs. 6,58,720
Bolero Power+ SLX - Rs. 7,23,050
Bolero Power+ ZLX - Rs. 7,57,477

A slightly tweaked test mule of the Mahindra Bolero has been spotted in Nashik with camouflaged front and rear bumpers and a new tail gate handle. With recent reports pointing that Mahindra is planning to launch the mini-Bolero (under 4-meter) next month, the spotted model can be a test mule of this new compact Bolero.
The spy shots reveal that the front of the tweaked Bolero gets a relatively flat bumper as compared to the chunky and contoured one on the full-size Bolero. The rear bumpers too have been profiled to avoid any protrusion from the body line, though they do jut out a little from the sides. The tail gate handle has also been redesigned and made thinner in order to avoid it from jutting out of the body.
Except the aforementioned changes, there aren’t any cosmetic updates visible on the new Bolero. The interiors of the test mule were also reported to be similar to the ones offered with the full-size Bolero.
The mini-Bolero is expected to be powered by a 3-cylinder 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine that will develop around 68 BHP.

Mahindra is reportedly working on an under 4-meter iteration of its UV, the Bolero. This new Bolero will be the fourth product in Mahindra's compact UV portfolio, after the KUV1OO, TUV3OO and NuvoSport. Mahindra is likely planning to launch the mini-Bolero in August this year.
The Bolero currently on sale in the market is 4,170 mm long. This means that Mahindra designers will need to shave off 170 mm to bring the UV under 4-meters. Reports claim that the wheelbase of the mini-Bolero will remain identical to its longer sibling, while the front and rear overhangs would be optimised to reach the targeted 4-meter length. The front and rear bumpers too would be re-profiled, while majority of the body panels would remain identical to the larger Bolero.
Interior design elements are also expected to be borrowed from the full-sized sibling. Seat design might be re-engineered to optimise space inside the cabin. The mini-Bolero will be offered with a 7-seater layout, similar to the arrangement inside the TUV3OO and the NuvoSport. As a result, the last row would get two side facing jump-seats.
Under the hood, the mini-Bolero would house a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder mHawk diesel engine, which is the same unit that is found in the TUV3OO and NuvoSport. But in order to deliver better fuel economy figures, the mini-Bolero's engine will be detuned to deliver 68 BHP.

A partially camouflaged version of the upcoming Mahindra Bolero facelift has been spotted testing. The test mule has been camouflaged in specific areas, pointing that Mahindra has slightly refreshed the Bolero's design. This facelift will likely be just a cosmetic update, without any changes to the Bolero's mechanicals.
The spy shots reveal that the Bolero facelift will get a reworked rear bumper, a redesigned tail lamp cluster, and a smaller tailgate handle. The front end hasn't been revealed in the spy shots, but it is expected to feature a new bumper, a redesigned grille, and a fresh pair of headlamps.
This facelift is Mahindra's attempt to keep the Bolero name popular in the UV market, before a comprehensively updated next-gen Bolero arrives in 2018-19.
The facelifted Bolero won't get any changes under the hood, as it will continue to be powered by a 2.5-litre m2DiCR engine that generates 63 BHP @ 3,200 rpm and a peak torque of 195 Nm @ 1,400-2,200 rpm. This engine comes coupled to a 5-Speed manual gearbox.

Later this year, Mahindra is likely to launch the next-generation Bolero, codenamed U301. Test mules of this vehicle have been spotted test mules on several occasions in the past, including its interiors. Last month, it was reported that Mahindra has been tuning the engine to maximize fuel economy. This time around, some clear images of the face of this vehicle have been captured.
Gone are those square headlamps of the current-gen Bolero. These are replaced with modern, swept-back clear lens headlamps with some chrome accents to add some premium appeal. The new front grill is camouflaged but going by the recent trend, expect it to have similar characteristics as the recently updated XUV500 or the 2014 Scorpio. The grill and air dam have a honeycomb pattern. This vehicle also gets rectangular fog lamps.
The side profile remains boxy as before. The test mule is shod with twin 5-spoke alloy wheels, a side step, roof-rails and new ORVMs. The rear features a spare wheel mounted to the tail gate, a foot step, a new bumper and verticular tail lamps. The windows and rear windscreen glass appear a tad bit too short in height. But we will have to wait for it to be officially revealed
This UV is likely to be powered by a 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine. A petrol engine might also be offered. The Bolero has been the most successful utility vehicle from Mahindra and it consistently manages high four-digit sales. The company will hope that its next-generation too tastes similar success like its predecessor.
