Scoop! 2021 Mahindra Bolero leaked; gets dual-tone exterior

The 2021 Bolero will get a dual-tone exterior with new colour options.

Mahindra is planning to launch the updated Bolero this year. What you see here is the first completely undisguised image of the 2021 Bolero.

The changes made to the Bolero are only aesthetic. However, one of the most noticeable updates is the dual-tone colour scheme. The front fascia and bumper is grey which neatly contrasts the red paintwork. It is expected to get new colour options as well.

The front grille and bumper have been carried over unchanged but the headlamp clusters appear to feature slightly revised internals. This particular car isn't equipped with front fog lamps. It also has black ORVMs instead of body-coloured units.

The 2021 Mahindra Bolero will be powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine. It puts out 75 BHP and 210 Nm and will come paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Rumour: Updated Bolero to meet safety & emission norms

According to a media report, Mahindra is likely to update the Bolero to help it comply with upcoming safety and emission regulations. Among the changes expected are the addition of a number of safety features and an updated engine.

The report states that ABS will be offered as a part of standard equipment in the MUV from this month. Additionally, safety features such as a driver's airbag, seatbelt reminder, high speed warning and rear parking sensors are expected to be added before July 1, 2019. The government has made it mandatory for carmakers to offer these safety features from that date.

Before October 1, 2019, the Bolero is expected to be updated to comply with the new frontal offset and side crash tests. Further, before April 1, 2020 it is also likely to feature a reworked front end to meet stricter pedestrian safety norms. The changes expected to the car are likely to include a higher bonnet, and redesigned bumper and grille.

Coming to the engine, the Bolero is likely to receive an updated version of the 2.5-litre m2Di diesel engine by April 1, 2020. This should help it comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms.
