More details on the Maruti S-Presso leaked

The S-Presso's teaser campaign is expected to start in the first week of September. The car is an entry level vehicle with an SUV-like design to appeal to young urban consumers.

Maruti will focus on the following 6 points for the S-Presso. 

1. Pseudo SUV like design & aggressive front fascia
2. Dynamic center console with speedometer in the center of the vehicle
3. Taller seating & height of vehicle
4. Best in class ground clearance
5. Supposed 10+ Safety features
6. Cabin space

While the exact engine details are not yet known, the entry level car could come with a 1.0L petrol engine. Transmission duties are expected to be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox, while an automated manual transmission (AMT) is also likely to be offered.

The Maruti S-Presso is expected to compete with the Renault Kwid in the Indian market. It is likely that the car will be sold through the company's Maruti Arena dealerships.

Rumour: Maruti S-Presso launch on September 30, 2019

According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the S-Presso hatchback on September 30, 2019.

The S-Presso is expected to be based on the Heartect platform. According to spy images, it appears to be a hatchback with a crossover appearance. The car is likely to get an upright stance with wraparound headlamps and rectangular tail lamps. The S-Presso could get colour-matched interior trim, a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system.

Reports suggest that S-Presso could get a BS-VI compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine. It might also be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol unit and it could get a CNG option as well. 

The Maruti S-Presso is expected to compete with cars like the Renault Kwid in Indian market.

Maruti Future-S based SUV'ish hatch could be called S-Presso

According to a media report, Maruti's Future-S based micro-SUV (codenamed: Y1K) is likely to be called S-Presso. It is expected to be launched sometime during this festive season.

The Future-S Concept was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Spy images suggest that the S-Presso could feature similar styling with a high stance and upright front fascia. It could get wraparound headlamps and rectangular tail lamp clusters. Inside, it is expected to get a touchscreen infotainment system among other features. The car has reportedly been designed and engineered in India with support from Suzuki Motor, Japan.

Reports suggest that the S-Presso could be offered with a 1.0-litre petrol engine paired with an automated manual transmission (AMT). It will also get all the mandatory safety features like ABS, airbags and rear parking sensors.

The Maruti S-Presso will compete with the Renault Kwid in the Indian market. It has been reported that the car could be sold through Maruti's Arena outlets.

Maruti Suzuki's upcoming micro-SUV has been caught testing in Gurgaon. The car, which is likely to be based on the Concept Future-S is rumoured to replace the Alto.

The spy images suggest that the micro-SUV is likely to borrow styling cues from the Concept Future-S. It appears to have a high stance with wraparound headlamps and rectangular tail lamp clusters. The car has short front and rear overhangs and a raked rear windshield. The new model is likely to be based on the WagonR's Heartect-A platform.

Given its positioning in the market, the new micro-SUV could be offered with a 1.0-litre petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional AMT. It is expected to get all the mandatory safety features such as ABS, driver side airbag, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder and an audible high-speed warning as standard.

Rumour: Next-gen Maruti Alto spied

The first spy image of the next generation Maruti Alto has surfaced online. It appears that the new model could feature a micro-SUV body style introduced by the Renault Kwid.

The spy image suggest that the new Alto could borrow styling cues from the Future-S Concept that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The car seems to have a high roofline with a raked rear windshield, indicating a micro-SUV style exterior. The test mule has dummy tail lights and narrow tyres.

The next generation Alto is expected to be based on the HEARTECT platform, which also underpins the new Swift and WagonR. It would comply with the upcoming safety regulations and is therefore likely to be offered with safety features like driver side airbag, ABS, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder and high-speed warning as standard. 

While there is no information about the engines that will be offered on the new Alto, it might get BS-VI compliant 800cc and 1.0-litre petrol engine options.

The next-gen Alto, which has been internally codenamed as the Y1K, is expected to be unveiled in 2019. Development started back in 2016 after the Japanese company gave the go-ahead to the Indian unit.

Rumour: Hyundai evaluating sub-4 meter micro SUV

According to a media report, Hyundai is evaluating a sub-4m micro SUV for India. The new model could be positioned below the upcoming Carlino concept-based compact SUV (codenamed: QXI).

We had previously reported that Hyundai plans to launch 8 new products in India by 2020. However, the rumoured micro SUV is not expected to be a part of this plan. It has been reported that the carmaker is conducting market surveys for a possible entry into the micro SUV segment.

Hyundai's micro SUV could rival the Renault Kwid in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki is also developing a product in this segment. It is expected to be based on the Future-S Concept, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, and is expected to be launched around 2020.

Rumour: Maruti's sub-compact SUV to be called Zen

According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki is planning to revive the Zen brand with a sub-compact SUV, positioned below the Vitara Brezza. The report suggests that this could be a production version of the Concept Future-S, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.

The Concept Future-S was created in-house by Maruti Suzuki in India and debuts a new design language. It has an upright front facia with white accents around the grille and headlamps. The front bumper has a silver scuff plate and twin vents on either side with white surrounds. The front windshield also has a white frame. The concept car has pillar-less doors and a gently sloping roofline that terminates into a raked rear windshield. The rear features a similar twin-U shaped light design as the front with white highlights. The rear bumper looks chunky and has a large silver skid plate. Further, the Concept Future-S gets cream colored interiors with orange accents and a 3-spoke steering wheel finished in orange. The black centre console houses a circular infotainment screen. 

Maruti hasn't disclosed any technical details about the Concept Future-S / Zen. However, media reports suggest that it could be based on the HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Swift. The car may be offered with a full-electric powertrain or a hybrid powertrain featuring a 1.2-litre, K-series petrol engine or a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine.

Maruti Suzuki announces 2018 Auto Expo plans

Maruti Suzuki has announced its plans for the 2018 Auto Expo. The company's pavilion will be spread over an area of 4,200 square metres. It will have over 18 vehicle models on display in Arena, Nexa and Motorsports zones. While the new Swift is likely to be the main attraction, the carmaker also plans to unveil two concept cars in addition to a working model of Suzuki's hybrid system (HEV).

Maruti will launch the third-generation Swift at the 2018 Auto Expo. The car was recently unveiled and pre-bookings are already open.

Maruti will reveal the Concept Future S - a sub-4 metre SUV, which has been designed in-house and is likely to be positioned below the Vitara Brezza. A teaser image released by the company suggests that the vehicle will have slim, twin-pod headlights with LED DRLs, a narrow grille connecting the two headlamp clusters and a large 'S' logo below the grille. An earlier image had revealed the car's side profile. It suggested that the Concept Future S has an upright stance with a thick C-pillar and a raked rear windshield. Media reports suggest that the car will be 200 mm shorter in length compared to the Brezza.

The company also plans to show the e-SURVIVOR concept EV - a 4WD electric car based on Suzuki's F.A.C.E. (Four-Wheel Drive, Autonomous, Connected & Electric) philosophy. 

A working model of the Suzuki Hybrid system (HEV) will be put on display as well. It has a pure electric drive mode. It currently powers the Swift Hybrid and the Suzuki Solio, which is sold in Japan.

Maruti Concept Future S compact SUV to debut at Auto Expo

Maruti Suzuki will showcase a compact SUV concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Future S is a sub-4 meter SUV that is likely to be positioned below the Vitara Brezza.

The official teaser image released by Maruti Suzuki reveals the Future S concept in side profile. The car has an upright stance and a gently sloping roofline. It features a wraparound front windshield, an almost upright A-pillar and a thick C-pillar. It appears to have slim, twin-pod headlights and LED tail lights. The rear end features a steeply raked windshield. It is also reported that this mini SUV will be about 200 mm shorter in length than the Brezza. 

Maruti hasn't provided any details about the engines that could power the concept when it goes into production. However, media reports suggest that it will be based on the HEARTECT platform shared with the new Dzire and the upcoming Swift hatchback. It is likely to be offered with a hybrid powertrain with a 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine along with Maruti's upcoming 1.5-litre diesel unit that is currently under development. While the exact timelines for its launch are not known, the new compact SUV could be launched later this year or early 2019, according to a media report.
