2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe launched at Rs 1.85 crore

The GLE 53 Coupe is powered by a 3.0L 6-cylinder turbo-petrol mild-hybrid engine that makes 430 BHP and 560 Nm.

Mercedes-Benz has launched the updated AMG GLE 53 Coupe in India, with prices starting at Rs 1.85 crore (ex-showroom).

The GLE 53 Coupe is based on the GLE facelift that was introduced in India in November last year. The Coupe gets redesigned LED headlights and tail lamp clusters. Being the AMG version, this SUV features a sporty front fascia with a more aggressive front grille and bumper.

The interior of the GLE 53 Coupe looks similar to the standard GLE. It features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and Mercedes’ latest MBUX infotainment system. Other features include a 360-degree camera, a ‘transparent bonnet’, blind spot assist and 9-airbags. The Acoustic Comfort Package, AMG Track Pace app and AMG high-performance braking system are some of the options offered to customers.

The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 430 BHP and 560 Nm. The engine is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that provides an additional boost of 20 BHP and 200 Nm. It comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

Mercedes GLA, GLE Coupe facelift India launch on January 31

The carmaker could also introduce the sportier AMG GLA35 sometime in the near future.

Mercedes-Benz has announced it plans to launch the updated version of the GLA and GLE Coupe in India on January 31, 2024.

The GLA facelift is based on the second-generation model. It gets subtle exterior updates, including new LED headlights, LED taillights and revised wheel arches. Inside, the SUV comes with Mercedes' latest MBUX infotainment system offering wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. 

In India, Mercedes is likely to offer the GLA facelift with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine options. The carmaker could also introduce the sportier AMG GLA35 sometime in the near future.

Having launched the GLE facelift last year, the carmaker is now gearing up to introduce the updated GLE Coupe in the Indian market. 

Mercedes will only offer the AMG GLE53 Coupe in India. It is expected to be powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine produces 429 BHP and is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

The GLE 53 Coupe competes with the BMW X6 M and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe.

The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe is now available in India. The SUV is priced at Rs. 1.20 crore (ex-showroom, India).

The GLE 53 Coupe is a high performance version of the GLE Coupe. It features a coupe-like roofline that gives it a sporty appearance. Besides this, the wheelbase has been shortened by 60 mm compared to the regular GLE Coupe.

On the outside, it gets the sporty AMG treatment with a Panamericana grille and larger vents at the front as well as a diffuser with quad exhausts at the back. The SUV rides on 20-inch alloy wheels, while bigger 21-inch rims are available as an option. On the inside, it gets a 3-spoke AMG steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles and carbon fibre trim on the door pads and dashboard. It has a 12.3-inch touchscreen with the MBUX infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The GLE 53 Coupe is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces 429 BHP @ 6,100 rpm and 520 Nm @ 1,800-5,800 rpm. The engine features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that delivers an additional boost of 22 BHP and 250 Nm.

Mercedes claims that the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. The SUV has all-wheel drive and rides on air suspension.

Mercedes is gearing up to launch the AMG GLE 53 Coupe in India on September 23, 2020. Bookings for the high-performance SUV will commence from September 8 (11.00 am onwards).
