Harley-Davidson Sportster S to be launched at IBW 2021

It uses a 1,252cc, Revolution Max, V-twin engine which can also be found on the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250.

Harley-Davidson has confirmed that it will launch the Sportster S in India at IBW 2021. The latest edition of the India Bike Week is scheduled to take place on December 4-5 in Aamby Valley, Maharashtra.

The Harley-Davidson Sportster S was globally revealed earlier this year. It is powered by the 1,252cc, Revolution Max, V-twin engine that is capable of producing 119 BHP and 114 Nm. For the transmission, there is a 6-speed gearbox accompanied by a slipper clutch. This is the same engine that also powers the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250.

Some of the other features on the Harley-Davidson Sportster S include dual exhausts, fat tyres, fully adjustable USD forks at the front, mono-shock at the rear, bar-end mirrors and a 320 mm front and a 260 mm rear disc brake.

As for the electronics, the Sportster S has four riding modes - Road, Sport, Rain and Custom - along with Cornering Enhanced ABS (C-ABS) and a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). It also features a tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control and traction control.

The India Bike Week was cancelled last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, it will take place in Aamby Valley, Maharashtra, instead of Vagator, Goa.

The Special Edition of the India Bike Week is expected to have multiple interesting activities and events such as stunt competitions, live music sessions, RevMoto Stage, Big Trip tent, Collector’s Showcase and more.

Based on the available information, online registrations for the India Bike Week 2021 Special Edition will open from November 7, 2021. The tickets, which are said to be available in limited numbers, will be up for sale from November 17, 2021.

Vlogger manhandled for abusing a bike on social media

A Vlogger / biker was beaten up by some people at the 2017 India Bike Week (IBW) held in Goa recently. Saurabh Mayekar had posted comments regarding some bikes on his Instagram story which caused the outrage among some bikers.

Saurabh, who has a channel named ‘Biker 390’ on YouTube, was posting updates about the venue, different bikes gathered as well as other events and contests at the IBW 2017. One such update posted by him as his Instagram story was of a group of bikers who were revving their bikes hard. He also posted an image of a modified Z800 bike along with an abusive comment.

These images were eventually seen by the owners of the bikes. The outraged group started searching for the motovlogger and managed to get hold of him at the location of the event. They then beat him up for commenting negatively and posting the same on social media. He was then asked to bow in front of the bikes and ask for their forgiveness. All this was caught on video and shared on social media.

The 5th India Bike Week (IBW) will be held on November 24 and 25, 2017 at Goa. This year's special guest is Leslie Porterfield - the world's fastest woman on 2-wheels. She has been the 2008 Female Rider of the Year and has three land speed records under her name.

Over 280 biking clubs from all over India are expected to attend this year's event. Over the course of two days, attendees will be treated to numerous activities including track racing and other competitions. As part of the new 'Innovation Class' of India-built biking tech, three winners will be selected for the 'Honour Roll'. Legends of long distance, transnational bike trips will be presenting IBW's first ever film festival. Additionally, a new Biker Mart and Expo will host some of the world's top biking and accessory brands.

Bikers will be treated to live music and food festivals. Competitive events like IBW Strong Man and Women of Biking Competitions will be held as well as a Mega Moto Vlogger meet up. Other attractions include barbeques, bikini bike wash and a training academy with Enduro track.

Tickets for IBW 2017 are priced at Rs. 1,750 for two days and will go on sale on September 21, 2017.

India Bike Week 2016 will be held on February 19 and 20, 2016 at Vagator in Goa. The organisers are hoping to attract over 15,000 bikers.

The event is in its fourth year. It will feature live bands, movie screenings, bikini bike wash, the National Custom Bike Build-Offs, and National Stunt Championship, new bike launches, custom and vintage bike displays, and sessions with international biker legends. IBW Main Street, a biker carnival parade will be organized as well.

India Bike Week: 17-18 January, 2014

The 2nd edition of the India Bike Week will kick off on 17th January, 2014 at Vagator beach, Goa. This is a two day motorcycle festival open for all bikers, not specific to any make or type of motorcycle. The first edition of India Bike Week saw a total of 6,500 bikers & enthusiasts attend the event. Organizers expect the number to grow to 10,000 this year.
