Pravaig Veer EV test car crash kills 4 at Rajaji Tiger Reserve

The Pravaig Veer EV was doing a trial run at the Rajaji Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand.

In a tragic incident, an electric vehicle built by Bangalore-based Pravaig Dynamics crashed, claiming the lives of four persons.

The Pravaig Veer EV was doing a test run at the Rajaji Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand when the driver lost control, allegedly due to a tyre burst. Four people, including two forest rangers, died in the accident. 

The driver of the vehicle, in his statement, said that the forest officials insisted on overloading the vehicle, exceeding its recommended seating capacity of 8. He was allegedly forced by them to accelerate beyond planned parameters.

Following the incident, Pravaig Dyamics released an official statement on X:

"We are deeply saddened to report a tragic incident involving a vehicle under demonstration via our distributor, one where they were conducting an authorised trial run in Rajaji National Park with the Forest Dept of Uttarakhand.

We have received reports of the accident and the subsequent casualties leading from a tyre burst and for standing against the safety protocol.

No fire or other safety incidents have taken place in the vehicle which was involved in a side impact high-speed crash."

Pravaig plans to set up EV manufacturing unit in Saudi Arabia

The factory will produce EVs for left-hand drive markets in the Gulf, Europe and the USA.

Bangalore-based EV startup Pravaig Dynamics has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi India Venture Studio to explore setting up an EV manufacturing unit in Saudi Arabia.

The new factory will produce electric cars for left-hand drive markets in the Gulf, Europe and the USA. The facility will have an annual production capacity of up to 1 million units.

As part of the deal, the two parties will also explore possibilities to co-develop, supply and service special-purpose vehicles, including EVs, AI-driven solutions, advanced batteries and energy storage solutions.

In 2020, Pravaig launched its first electric SUV in the Indian market. The Pravaig Defy uses a dual motor setup and has a combined output of 401 BHP and 620 Nm. The car uses a 90.9 kWh battery that is said to offer a range of over 500 km.

A month later, the company revealed an electric sedan called the Extinction. It uses a 96 kWh swappable battery offering a maximum range of 504 km on a single charge.

Pravaig Defy electric SUV launched at Rs. 39.50 lakh

The Pravaig Defy is powered by a 90.9 kWh battery that is said to offer a range of over 500 km.

Bangalore-based EV start-up Pravaig has launched its first product in the Indian market. The Pravaig Defy is an electric SUV that costs Rs 39.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The design of the Pravaig Defy seems to be inspired by the Range Rover Sport. It has a simple front fascia with angular surfaces and rectangular headlamps. It has a strong shoulder line and retractable door handles. The rear features slim LED tail lights and a roof spoiler.

Despite the Defy’s boxy appearance, the company claims a drag coefficient of 0.33. The SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and gets optional aero covers that are said to add up to 10 km or more range per charge.

The Defy uses sustainable materials in its interior. The upholstery is also made from vegan leather. The car is available in either 5-seat or 4-seat configurations and comes with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster along with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system offering onboard gaming & OTA updates. The 4-seat version comes with two 15.6-inch screens as part of the rear seat entertainment package.

The Pravaig Defy has a dual motor setup with a combined output of 401 BHP and 620 Nm. It is powered by a 90.9 kWh battery that is said to offer a range of over 500 km. The car comes with an optional 7.2 kW home charger that can add 300 km of range in around 8 hours. The battery can also be charged using a 150 kW DC fast charger.

The prototype of the Pravaig Extinction Mk1 electric car has been spotted testing in Delhi. The car was seen being driven at a sedate pace on the streets of the national capital.

Pravaig Dynamics revealed its first electric car earlier this month. It uses a 96 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 504 km on a single charge. The battery can be recharged to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes. The car packs 201 BHP and is said to do a sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, while its top speed is claimed to be 196 km/h.

The Extinction is a four-door sedan with a coupe-like roofline. It will be offered with lounge-like seating and a left rear passenger seat that could be reclined to 165 degrees. Customers will also be able to personalize the interior of the car. The vehicle will come with a Devialet audio system with smartphone connectivity, HEPA air filters, regenerative braking and autonomous driving technology.

Pravaig Dynamics has revealed the Extinction - its first electric car. It is scheduled to go on sale sometime next year.

The Pravaig Extinction is a four-door sedan with a coupe-like roofline. It has sharp lines with slim headlamps and tail lights which look unconventional and futuristic. The car measures 4,820 mm in length, 1,934 mm in width, 1,448 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,038 mm.

According to the company, the Extinction will offer lounge-like seating with extended legroom. The car could also get a left rear passenger seat that could be reclined to 165 degrees. Customers will also be able to personalize the interior. The company has tied up with architects as well as fashion and interior designers for this purpose. The car will come with a Devialet audio system with smartphone connectivity, HEPA air filters, regenerative braking and autonomous driving technology.

Pravaig Extinction EV: Reddit AMA & unveil countdown timer

The Pravaig Extinction will be unveiled on December 4.

Pravaig Dynamics is gearing up to unveil its first electric car called the Extinction on December 4, 2020. The countdown timer for the unveiling is now live on the website.

Ahead of the official unveiling, the company is also conducting a Reddit AMA (AskMeAnything) on the subreddit r/IndiaSpeaks on November 22 at 6 pm.
