2022 Rainforest Challenge to be held in Goa from July 23-30

The top Indian driver of RFC India 2022 will win a free entry to the RFC Global Series Finale.

The Rainforest Challenge India 2022 will be held in Goa from July 23-30.

28 teams from across India will take part in Season 8 of the offroad challenge. 9 teams from Telangana, 6 from Maharashtra, 4 teams from Goa, 3 from Delhi, 2 teams each from Karnataka and Arunachal Pradesh and 1 each from Chandigarh and Kerala will compete for the trophy.

The event is designed to test the contestants’ driving and vehicle recovery skills, team spirit along with their physical and mental strength under extreme off-road conditions. Each team, comprising a driver and a co-driver, undertakes 26 Special Stages (SS) or challenges during the course of the competition. The event follows a point system, where the team with maximum points claims the RFC India Champion title. The top Indian driver of RFC India 2022 will win a free entry to the RFC Global Series Finale to be held in Malaysia at the end of the year.

The Rainforest Challenge is the Indian chapter of the Rainforest Challenge of Malaysia, which is said to be the third toughest off-road race in the world. Similar events are held in 21 countries across the world.

Kabir Waraich & Dushyant Khosla win 2021 Rainforest Challenge

The winners get a free entry to the RFC Global Series Finale that is held in Malaysia.

Kabir Waraich and co-driver Dushyant Khosla of Gerrari Offroaders Chandigarh have won the Rainforest Challenge India 2021.

Kabir and Dushyant won the event with a total score of 2,155 out of 2,600. As the RFC India 2021 Champions, they have won a free entry to the RFC Global Series Finale that is held in Malaysia.

Anand V. Manjooran and co-driver Vishnu Raj of KTM Jeepers of Kerala secured second place with 2144 points, while Dr. Mohammad Fahed VP and co-driver Rajeev Lal of Team Gulf First from Kerala clinched the third spot with 2014 points.

The 7th edition of the India's toughest off-road motorsport event was held in Goa from August 28 to September 4, 2021.

Isuzu sponsors 2018 Rainforest Challenge India

Isuzu is the new sponsor for the 2018 Rainforest Challenge (RFC) in India. The 5th edition of RFC India will be held in Goa from July 21-28, 2018. From 2014-2017, the event was sponsored by Force Gurkha.

This year 41 teams, including a women's team will be competing for the top spot. There are 10 teams from Kerala, 7 from Telangana and 4 from Karnataka & Maharashtra each. Chandigarh, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh will each have 3 teams while 1 team from Haryana will be joining the group.

The Rainforest Challenge is an off-road competition organized by Cougar Motorsports in India. The event is divided into 26 Special Stages, where teams have to navigate through rugged terrain and various obstacles. The winner receives a cash reward of USD 10,000, which includes a free entry to the annual RFC Mother Event held in Malaysia. 

Cougar Motorsports has also announced a Rainforest Trophy (RFC) off-roading expedition in Arunachal Pradesh from October 16-20, 2018. The non-racing event will be based on the RFT Malaysia as well as the Borneo Safari.

Force Gurkha RFC India 2017 to be held in Goa from July 22-30

The fourth edition of the Force Gurkha Rainforest Challenge (RFC) India 2017 will be held from July 22 to July 30, 2017, in Goa. Cougar Motorsports, organisers of RFC India, have announced the closure of registration for this year's event.

For the 2017 season, RFC India has recorded 40 entries, including 8 teams from Hyderabad, 7 from Kerala, 4 from Mumbai, 7 from Karnataka, 3 teams each from Goa, Delhi and Chandigarh, 2 each from Pune & Tamil Nadu and a single entry from Yamunanagar. This is the highest number of entries ever recorded for an RFC India season.

RFC India was first organised in the year 2014. It is considered to be one of the toughest and most challenging off-road competitions in the country. For its fourth edition, the organisers are claiming to make the competition tougher by slightly changing the event's format. Though exact details about the changes made will only be announced at the venue, organisers have indicated that they will be making some format and sequence changes in the special stages, while some new sites will also be added to the off-road course.

Winners of RFC India 2017 will earn a fully sponsored entry into the RFC 2017 Grand Final which will be held in Malaysia by the end of this year.

Team India wins under 3,050cc diesel category at RFC Malaysia

Force Gurkha Rainforest Challenge (RFC) India 2016 Champions - Gurmeet Virdi and Kirpal Singh Tung have added yet another title to their name. The duo has secured the top spot in the under 3,050 cc diesel category at the RFC 2016 Grand Final in Malaysia. They have also become the first Indian team to successfully complete the Grand Final of the RFC Global Series, which is often touted as one of the 10 toughest motor races in the world. The team scored a total of 1,361 points, out of 2,400 to clinch the title. Overall, Team India finished 11th.

Gurmeet Virdi and Kirpal Singh Tung had won the Force Gurkha RFC India 2016, which was held in Goa in July this year. This win earned them an automatic entry in the RFC 2016 Grand Final in Malaysia. This was Kirpal's first-ever participation in an international off-road competition, while Gurmeet has been the co-driver of Team India in the RFC 2014 Grand Final.

The overall category winners - Chang Chiew Shen and Edward Benggon, earned 2,203 points. The second team, comprising of Kulbak Roman and Pavel Kovalenko from Russia trailed the winners by just one point. However, Gurmeet and Kirpal managed to secure a wide enough margin in their category, as the team that finished second in the under 3,050 cc diesel category trailed by over 100 points.

2016 India 4x4 Week to kick start from 22 July in Goa

The 2016 India 4x4 week will be organized from 22nd July to 24th July 2016 in Dona Paula, Goa. This will be the inaugural edition of the 4x4 convention, which is being organized by Delhi-based Cougar Motorsport Pvt. Ltd.

The first edition of the India 4x4 week will house displays from manufacturers like Land Rover and Isuzu. Several off-road equipment suppliers will also be showcasing their equipment and accessories.

A proving ground area has been laid out at the venue, where visitors can get an idea of the potential of off-road vehicles like the Land Rover Discover Sport and Isuzu vehicles like the 4x4 Single Cab Pickup Truck and the D-Max V-Cross.

The visitors will also be given an opportunity to test their own vehicles' off-road abilities. For this, the organizers have made three different tracks with varying levels of off-road difficulty: SUV, moderate and extreme off-road.

Knowledge sharing, training and certifications sessions will also be held for registered participants, where off-roading experts like Sumeer Tandon, Arkaprava Datta, Tejas Kothari (BHPian Tejas@perioimpl) and David Metcalfe will be shedding light upon topics like Suspension & Articulation, Differential Lockers, Offroad Driving Tips, Hi-Lift Jacks, Winching and other interesting and challenging aspects of 4X4 and off-roading.

12 rare 4WD vehicles from around the country will also be exhibited at the venue. These include classic Range Rovers, a 1948 Dodge Power Wagon, a FJ40 Land Cruiser, Land Rover series vehicles such as the Land Rover Series 2A, Defender and 110.

Interestingly, 12 Prologue Special Stages of the Force Gurkha RFC India 2016 will also take place at the India 4x4 Week. Force Gurkha RFC is the Indian edition of the famous Rainforest Challenge of Malaysia. The Rainforest Challenge is counted among the ten toughest motor races in the world.
