2024 Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 launched at Rs 2.19 lakh

The Vitpilen 250 competes with the KTM 250 Duke.

Husqvarna has launched the updated Vitpilen 250 for the 2024 model year in India. The bike is priced at Rs 2.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The 2024 Vitpilen 250 is based on a new frame and features a redesigned swingarm with an off-centre rear suspension. The bike is 100 mm longer, and ground clearance is up from 152 mm to 177 mm.

The rider and pillion seat height has been lowered from 842 mm and 907 mm to 820 mm and 877 mm, respectively. While the fuel tank capacity has increased to 13.5 litres, the kerb weight has dropped to 163.8 kg.

Husqvarna claims that the new frame, longer wheelbase and lower seat height have improved the bike’s cornering behaviour while maintaining stability. The reduced weight and new handlebars are said to improve steering response.

The Vitpilen 250 is powered by a 249.07cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder that makes 30.57 BHP @ 9,500 rpm and 25 Nm @ 7,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike rides on a 43 mm WP USD front fork and an adjustable rear monoshock. It features disc brakes at both ends supported by dual-channel ABS.

Pillion comfort on the Husqvarna 250 twins

The Husqvarna 250s, the Svart and the Vitpilen are some really hot looking motorcycles. Their small pillion seat is a bit concerning however.

BHPian hellrider recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

The Husqvarna 250s, the Svart and the Vitpilen are some really hot looking motorcycles. Their small pillion seat is a bit concerning however. Now there aren't many videos on the internet on their pillion comfort but so far I've been getting average responses from those videos. Some say it's a bit below average, while others say it's just fine for the city.

Has anyone tried sitting behind one or owns one and rides with a pillion? If so, please share your views on the pillion comfort. It clearly looks like it can easily accommodate a woman who's thin and all, but what about men or women who are taller and heavier? Or average sized?

How does it's pillion comfort compare to sportsbikes such as the R15 v3, RC200, etc. Better than those, or just about the same? Or worse?

Here's what BHPian rarkit had to say on the matter:

About 20-30 kilometers last week in city traffic with male pillion rider of average build and I didn't hear a complaint. Most of the complaints come before the start as people feel it will be very uncomfortable after seeing the seat. So at least for city ride, it seems to be fine. For highway and long distance, I couldn't say since I have never tried.

Main problem with a pillion is low ground clearance. You are more likely to hit certain makeshift speed breakers with a pillion than when you are riding solo. There is a plate under the engine for that but it is something worth knowing if you are planning to purchase.

Here's what BHPian mugen_pinaki27 had to say on the matter:

Hi Hellrider, biker here. From the looks of the bike, the pillion ought to be comfortable on both the Huskies but it would be best if you took a test ride of the same to ascertain the comfort on your level. Reviews online show only one part of the picture. I always feel that a personalized test ride helps you make your decisions much better.
