Gmail anyday for its speed. However Gmail lacks a very common read receipt feature.

None. Hotmail. Both Yahoo and GMail look Prehistoric as compared to LIVE!

I have my yahoo account on POP3, which is free. but gmail offers IMAP which is even better. I rarely use their web interface now.

I have subscribed this "ISG" stock yahoo groups. Get hundreds of mails daily. . With gmail, it is a breeze to handle this many mails. Esp the labeling and grouping by subject is such a big deal. Not sure if yahoo has added these kind of features.

The whole interface is clutter free, very simple and easy to use. I am actually surprised that you even wanted a poll on this. Gmail, wins hands down. Thought after enabling https, it has slowed down a bit.

gmail without a doubt.
speed + storage are the key things.
Added plus is being able to receive/send really fat attachments as well - which feature I use a lot since the office mail server has a file size cap.
Practically everyone I know is on gmail so communication is instantaneous and efficient as well.

Gmail is my preference for personal use. I use my ids in yahoo, rediffmail and indiatimes for registration of software, IT products, forum memberships etc.

GMail - due to the features (especially the chain of messages) although I still have my yahoo id, funnily I also use my ancient (10 yr+) old Hotmail account for some purposes.

GMail all the way. Actually I have stopped using all Yahoo! services except Flickr.

There was a time when all my friends were on Y! Messenger, now nobody is there. Google has been able to integrate all its services so very well (GMail, Calendar, Docs, Photos, Videos, Reader, Maps, Add ons, etc etc etc), it makes my life much easier.

I don't use any of my old accounts any more. I auto-forward all of them to my single GMail id. You have labels/filters you can use to identify such emails.

My Yahoo suddenly stopped working one day, after logon it would give an unhandled exception everytime.
Tried multiple attempts reporting it to Yahoo, but nothing worked.
So now its Gmail all the way.
