Bangalore - Shivanasamudra : Route Queries

Hi All - Has anyone been to Shivanasamudra (Gaganachukki/Bharachukki) the last few weeks?
Is there water at the falls, esp with the rains over the last few days?

How is the road - any pointers?

Thanks

Ravi

Had been there last month. There was water, but not in full flow. Maybe the rains have changed that.
The roads....there's a stretch of about 5kms on Malavalli road which is absolutely dismal; its nothing but stones and gravel. You would cringe at the noise your suspension makes even at a snail's pace. Apart from that the roads are ok.
The place itself is totally commercialized now. Somehow feel its lost its old glory to modernization.

Visit ShivanaSamudram only after August 15th it will be in full glory for few weeks from that time.

From last 1 week it started raining heavily in most of the areas so if it continues for a while then expect by august 15th it will be in full glory.

Regards,

Ravi.

I been to Shivasamudram last week. I have taken this root: bangalore - Ramanagaram - Maddur - Malavalli - Shivasamudram. Around 130KM. Road is good, except 2-3KM in Malavalli- Shivasamudram stretch.

I see the news that kaveri is in full swing. The KRS dam should be full in 2 or 3 days. Guess it would be real good scene to visit in next 2 or 3 weeks, Right?

I don't think they would let you get close anywhere near the dam. You prolly will have to satisfy your thirst for water at the catchment areas.

A better choice would be to try Bulmari Water Falls.

I am planning to go to Shivanasamudra on Saturday (16th Aug 08). I had seen on TV9 channel (Heegu Unte program) about a place near Shivanasamudra. The name of the temple and address given by them on the program is as follows

Prasanna Meenakshi Temple and Someshwara Temple
Near Shivanasamudra, Kollegal Taluk, Chamarajnagar Dist.

Has anyone visited these temples. Would like to know the route to these temples as we are planning to cover Shivanasamudra and these 2 temples during the trip.

With a lot of water being released from KRS, it should be a great view now. By the way what is with the temple. Whats happening there ?

The Meenakshi temple has a SriChakra believed to be installed by Adi Shankaracharya.
