Hi All you foodies, as per demands from the Eating Guide in mumbai thread, I have started this thread to call for a meet during the Holy MOnth of Ramadaan, and not for anything but FOOOD. So Slurp it all the way and Our Food guide Mr.Gogi Sir aka V-16 ji, will guide us on the food tour of J.J Junction to Crawfort Market hehe.

Details As Follows:

PLace : J.J Junction to Crawfort Market

Time: After 11.00 pm

Day : Any given Saturday Night (because next day everyone can rest)

Brief : Khaaanaa Khazaan , Food Food Food All the Way, deserts, briyanis, and other options where we can unanimously decide.

There are a lot of food joints so guess one meet wont be sufficient. We will use the same thread to decide for the next meet, but 1st lets make it to this one.

Tips: Be prepared to stand in the middle of the road to eat, No parking facility, so car pooling, biking, and public transport. Parking space will be available at a distance on the road, under the flyover, Or You guy can park you rides in My building, and from there we can take a cab to reach the destination. (my House is 8 minutes away, and there is enuff parking in the building, provided we dont Check our FFE in the middle of the night and no ICE Demos LOLS).
Everybody will be guided, to the place after we decide the exact date and meeting place.
Oh One more thing DRINKS : If you guys are on drinks just be carefull, as people around these places are a litlle weirdos, and we dont want to get into FIGHTCLUBS hehe. So hold your drinking horses for this night if you really want to enjoy some good food.

And Now Confirmations please!!!!

I confirm.
Just set a date Sohail. Even if its not a saturday as then we can start the night by 10ish. We can finish by 12ish

I recommend the following trail:

We start the evening by assembling at Crawford market outside Sadanand Hotel.
We move to Cafe Firdos. No we dont eat there. We go to Naseem Sheekh Paratha wala just outside Cafe Firdos. We eat the best sheekh kebabs one can and give the deep fried parathas a miss and head to Sohails house to park.
Park at Sohail's place and take cab/s from there to Bohari Mohalla (hereinafter referred to as BM). One can get parking there too but maybe one or two cars.
We start at the Khichda/Haleem guy and move on to Vallibhai Payawala. This guy only serves two things, Paya and Bhuna. A Plate of any should be enough for the night for dinner. Enjoy with lamba Pav or crisp and huge roti sprinkled with sesame seeds.
Then we can move to Idris cold drinks for the best sherbets in town.
Since these are all in the same area we can walk here. Al these places are within 2-3 minutes walking distance from each other.

Catch a cab to Minara Masjid (MM) lane for some hot and fresh Rabdi, Fruitella (a kind of chilled bottled milk drink with fruits. Much like the fruit salad one gets at the "Mewad" Ice cream carts) Malpua (if someone wants) and Phirni at Noorani Dairy or Suleiman Usman
If anyone wants to eat here again they are welcome to.
We can then go back to arrive another day for some other stuff.
In the meanwhile Ill hunt for some more joints to keep us busy that night.

Patrel Meat, mutton rolls next to Tawakkal Sweets, milk cold drink walla next to the khichda wala, serving shaken (not stirred) refreshers with some fresh malai bought from the adjacent milk dairy, Taj ice cream, Haji tikka wala opp Taj ice cream, Khan baba, the gurda kaleji bheja guy next to Idris etc, etc.

at MM

Hindustan chote kebab, nihari at Chinese grill (if available) also for those who did not know, in the by lane next to Noorani, Bade Miya from behind Taj has a stall there to only during Ramzan.

What has evaded me all these years is any place specializing in Biryani. Dont say Delhi Durbar. Im looking for something better though their biryani is quite good too. Anyone can throw some light?

For those who dont want to make a food trail then the best bet is to go to Shalimar or Delhi Durbar and hog there.
If anyone wants I would be glad to give my suggestions re the food in these places too.

Alternately one day lets go to Baghdadi behind Taj.

Gogi Sir, My pace is closer to BM and not Crawford Market, so we will have to meet accordinly, and distance between, BM and MM is Walkable, after hogging we can always walk for 3-5mins to reach the next destination.
Gogi Sir, let the confirmations come in then we will decide accordingly, in the meantime if you coming tonite let me know il be free by 12ish, we can do some looking around becasue it has not started getting crowded. Once 15th Roza passes no place to Walk at MM lols

Srikanth Sir: Any dates is fine with me, gogi sir is not there this saturday night. so suggest something, we dont have any more public holidays in between so that we can rest the next day!!

I suggest any friday nights or saturday nights. what do u say?

Sohail i think ill call you re today as i dont think i can make it tomorrow have plans made with friends already and as it is i dont go anywhere on a weekend before 11.30 pm.

For those who want to drink, make sure you drink and come as there will and should be no drinking of alcoholic beverages in the vicinity.
Its against the religion and we should respect it fully.
Concentrate on the Khana guys.!!
