re: The Offroad Rims & Tyres Thread

Guys,

Anyone aware of where I can get the same design wheels from Hijoin/HR in 7J, 15 inch. Or a similar design from any other manufacturer?

Its a bit urgent. My vehicle is literally standing on blocks now. Need new wheels asap.

Try contacting SAI MAG WHEELS on their website or otherwise, they are the distributors for Hijoin/HR & some other brand/s

Cheers

Hi Spike,

I am in China now and will be back only in two weeks. I don't remember the exact wight, but when I weighed it the first time, the alloy/tire combo weighed less than the Army RIM/MRF Sandgrip combo.

@jeepster:

I have not used but seen the RT/s side by side with the Geolander AT. Geolander was actually cheaper so not sure if it is worth taking a risk on the Hawkz RTs . RT is no good, if you want off-road, you need to go for RT/S

re: The Offroad Rims & Tyres Thread

i am using apollo hawkz a/t 185/85R16 on OE jeep wheel rims - fits like a glove to hand. as said in the brochure, all terrain performance, i have tried it in sand, water and onroad. slush i had no chance to try till. the tyre works it out effortlessly, and well worth the 5k price.
best regards.

Confusion/

I have finally decided and budgeted for a tyre upgrade but within the following constraints:

1) Don't like the look of any alloys so want to stick to Steel rims. Have FC rims currently and I believe Tavera/Gypsy rims are alternatives. Which ones would have the maximum negative offset?

2) Tyres: Looking for 31" M/T or A/T tyres. If M/T then have to keep in mind on-road performance as most of the time the Jeep is on-road and does need to travel on-road. If A/T then have to ensure that they handle slush well because most of the offroading is in the monsoons and I don't want to slide down any hill for lack of grip!

3) Budget: upto 8-9K per tire

What are possible options? and where?

re: The Offroad Rims & Tyres Thread

Am not sure Gypsy discs or Tavera disc will be ok wrt width for a 31" tyre. 29" itself is a tight fit.

IIRC, Tavera rims have a 6-bolt pattern with different PCD. Please check this.

I think the Gypsy rims would have more negative offset compared to the stock MM540 rims.

Not the ideal option but more like the TINA option for me. I have just not liked any alloys enough to have them on my jeep.

Will have to check about the Tavera rims. Thanks. Kandisa here has the same tyres (Bighorns 31x10.5R15) on the Gypsy rims so will see if my current FC rims don't work out will shift to the Gypsy ones.

IIRC Kandisa has 30/9.5/15 on the stock gypsy rims and not 31"
And yes if I am not mistaken his tyres also foul the body on full lock too.
