Hi Rattler,

I Loved the stance of the Lower Forty concept when Jeep came out with it back in 2009, I guess.

I like your rendering of the same as well.
The lowered roof line brings out more character in your Jeep.

Out of curiosity, what size and make are those NDMS on the Jeep.

Thanks,

L.o.R

Hi L.o.R,

Thanks so much for your comment. I have tried to adopt the Lower Forty concept with my limited budget in my Jeep and quite happy with the out come.
The Tyres are 7.50x16 NDMS supplied by Speedways Rubber Co, Ludhiana, Punjab. I had directly placed an order with them and received the consignment within two weeks.

Best Regards,

Sudhir.

Rattler,

Believe me when I say this, your jeep is what i would have built had i been in your place with the exception that i would increase the angle of rake on the windscreen.

Not too much but just a little.

And as for the tyres, I myself am interested in speedways rubber co. Tyres but in 9.00×16 in NDMS or a light truck tyre tread pattern.

If you don't mind me asking. What is the ply rating on your tyres.?
And if i am not wrong it is a tube type tyre, right.?

Hi L.o.R,
Thanks so much for your feed back. In fact there has been a mistake on my part with respect to the angle of the windscreen. I did presume that the windscreen is at the right angle as in the original Lower Forty concept. Actually the frame was resting on the body, minus the Rubber beading that runs underneath the windscreen giving it a perfect leaning angle.

The Speedways NDMS 7.50x16 comes with 8 ply rating and you are right, it is tyre with tube. Regarding 9.00x16 Light truck tyre, many of the Senior BHPians do not recommend the same on a Jeep. The reason being, very hard tyre rubber likely to get cracked on an OTR event, too heavy on the axils and the wheel bearings, heavy on the steering and the angle of arrival and departure will be considerably reduced.

Best regards,

Sudhir.

Hi Sudhir,

I fully agree with you about the hard rubber compound on a 9.00X16 tyre. It is mainly due to a higher ply rating on such tyres as they are primarily used on load carriers.
I am in conversation with a couple of manufacturers of such tyres to try and get the 9.00 X 16 tyre in a 6 or 8 ply.

Secondly, I agree with the additional stress on steering and drive live components due to additional weight and the increased OD of the tyre but how would the increase in the overall diameter of the tyre reduce the approach and departure angles?
My understanding is that it should rather increase the approach, departure and the ramp-over angles due to the increase in the ground clearance as a 9.00X16 tyre would be about 35 inches tall when inflated.
But I might be overlooking something here. Please share your thoughts on the same.

Thanks,

Regards.

Re: Stock Restored MM 550 NGCS-2006

Brilliant work. Could you share with us the restoration details, as in before (restoration) and after pics?

Also a lot of offroad mods can be seen. Offroad bumper, winch, auxilliary lights, rock sliders, MT tyres etc. Please share with us the names and cost of each.

That's a nice Jeep you've got there, ravvi16. At first glance, it does look a lot like the old CJ7 Renegade. But I personally feel that the new off-road bumpers and DRLs (or are they just LED indicators?) takes a bit away from the otherwise retro look. No offense intended, just my two cents!

re: All Team-BHP 4x4 Jeep Pics!

Hi Ravi
Thats one of the neatest MM550 I've seen in T-BHP in a long time, kudos to your attention to detail. I just love everything about it (maybe not the DRLs/LEDs but then that a personal choice) . I must comment on the soft top though, Its just so neat and tight which is quite rare in most Soft top jeeps. Love the color combo too. Drool maal . Happy Jeeping .
