Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Last weekend along with 2 other friends went on a trek to 2 forts in the Sahyadris, so could not take out my bike. However today along with my riding buddy, we could manage to take out our bikes. Did Bhamchandra caves/ hill top, Bhama Askhed dam & Jadhavwadi dam and back, 75kms. It was a lovely morning. Sharing some pics from the ride.

Weekend morning ride – 70.75km, 5:45am start.

I am thinking of moving the weekend ride to Sunday mornings, much less crowed than Saturdays

Can't help noticing from your photos that greenery and spread where you live is like green leafy vegetables on a bawa's plate. Strictly for presence and show only.

Did a century ride after a long time. Rehearsal for next weekend 200 km centenary BRM. I realize that my daily 30 kms doesn't prepare you or even keep you in shape for the biggies. Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!-img_20210905_074024.jpg

After 17,000 km on the old set, new tyres day! An open challenge to any big dollar foreign brand to make tyres that last as long in our conditions and as near puncture free. Forget about pricing, which they can (and will) never compete on. GRLs rock baby!

Ride to find the soul

Even after working and living within a few kms from the lake called saul kere, I had never visited it. But, finding the place was easier said than done. All the roads that google suggested turned out to be dead ends. But then, finding the soul is not easy
Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!-soulkere_map.jpg

Decided to take a longer route and finally made it to the lake. The trail around the lake was perfect for the dual-sport.

This was just my second ride in the new bike, but as per Strava I am already making great progress, even hitting insane speeds

The new bag is performing well. No sag or tilt. And since it's small, contents inside don't rattle much on the rough roads.

IIRC, this is near Nagar, and a rather serene place.
Did you cycle all the way from Pune?

Cheers !

Haha no, not there yet (to cycle 120km one side) although that is the goal some time.

I live here, since work from home started.. moved here. Has some good rural roads.

Then you guys must surely visit the Cavalry Tank Museum. It's supposed to be the largest of its kind in Asia and is quite well maintained.

Other places of interest include the Salabat Khan's Tomb - commonly called SKT by locals and the Chand Bibi ka Makbara which incidentally is just a stone's throw away from the Cavalry Tank Museum.

Cheers !

Oh yes! I regularly go to Chand bibi area. On cycle and in the car, both. The tank museum is a gem too. And it just got renovated (Nov 2020), if anyone of you guys were planning on coming here it just got better.

Attaching some slightly OT photos.

That's Chand bibi in the background if you squint your eyes. That particular road is pretty good.

This is just off of Chand bibi, fantastic spot and you can see how absolutely humongous wind mills are from up close.

Also only space where mild off roading can be done and see army guys sweat it out.

Absolutely. I'm far from 100k, but Doc and others can do it - so if there is a plan just let me know, I'll meet you guys somewhere mid way (from Nagar) and ride back with you guys towards Nagar.
Can have some fantastic spicy food, visit Chand bibi although the climb is brutal!

Absolutely fantastic photos Amol. Thanks for sharing!

For some reason most serious cyclists do not prefer Nagar road, even though the surface is very good. Two of the reasons are that it does not have much of a shoulder on either side and two, the traffic is quite heavy and fast.

My last ride on this road was a fast century and paceline with some quick boys (some serious international triathlon podiumers in training among them) to Ranjangaon and back in February last year.

Sharing some photos of that ride too here (in a bit, from my phone) ...

Fantastic trip! And yes Nagar road is horrendous. Completely understand why cyclists would avoid it.

I hate driving on that road. My friend who regularly drives to Nagpur from Pune says the most tiring patch in entire drive is Pune-Nagar and dreads it. It's not just traffic, it's the a-holes driving on wrong side flashing lights and other goons that ply on the road that make the travel really bad.

Speaking of Decathlon, is your friend Bipin from workshop? Insanely patient and polite man. Worked on my cycle and it was a great experience.
