Now the dealer tells me it's an end of March manufacturing. Same thing had happened last time as well that the VIN decode said some 3-4 months earlier than what the dealer claimed. But dealer explained that VIN decode shows the date on which the kit gets manufactured in Germany and that will always be a few months earlier to local assembly.

Is this correct? Or is the dealer lying to me and giving me a 2016 car?

If you have android phone, you may use the app from Kerala MVD to check the VIN numbers or use PDF to check the same

The app is very confusing and the PDF isn't opening. :(
