My INdia VW GT TSI (2016) has a VIN number that has a Zero in the 8th & 12th characters. When I try to give that VIN on the VW site it also reports that my VIN number is not a recognizable Volkswagen VIN.

However I find a note on their site that says that they do not use not use the letters “O,” “I,” or “Q.”

I wonder if this is specific to any region. Would someone be able to help clarify?

I hope this helps. But then, it reports that the 10th digit (year) is not decipherable.

Based on the link above, if "H" is the 11th character, then the year of manufacture is 2017 and the month of manufacture is July.

Sir, the VIN will be 19 characters. After this number which you have posted here, there will be two letters. That's what determines the manufacturing month and year.

Can some one help decode the below S Cross VIN #. Per guideline 10th position is year and 11th is Month. But here it is "0" in both the positions.
