Hello Sir,

Decoding - 12th character is month of manufacture, which is B in your VIN, which indicates the month of February.

10th character is your year if manufacture, which is J in your case, which indicates the year 2018.

Month and year of manufacture : February 2018. Fresh car:)

Sorry. Couldn't decode this one. It seems there isn't a decoder for the compass. Luckily, the model year says 2018 when I checked it through this site. No idea on the month though.

Well, the car is not Alto 800, its a Ciaz. But yes, its 2018.

I'm sorry to bother you but how did you deduce it's a ciaz and it's 2018 model from the VIN? Which character defines these?

What I learnt now is that for some Maruti models, there is an extra two characters after the 17 VIN to decode the month and year of manufacture date.

1) Ciaz has this numbering system, where the 9th, 10th & 11th characters are S00. Ignis and Baleno have regular numbering system

2) Where can we find this x+2 numbering ? Does it follow the same coding as for other cars ?
