Is it possible to mount a subwoofer tube eg. made by Bazooka, in the rear of a Swift either longitudinally or vertically?
If i'm not mistaken, these tubes are velcro attached, and can be removed for luggage space.

yes sir it is very much possible...but I would prefer it longitudinally as it will be easy to get hold of it when compared to the vertical one.

Thank you. JBL is not well distributed in the north east. There is a distributor in Cal and another in Guwahati. Obviously not enough. A foothold in Sikkim isn't easy. Hopefully, soon.

Super super superman, tu hai mera superman

Sometimes a bass tube has a port at the other end. The port would be an integral part of the bass reproduction. (ooh, gotta love that word)
If there is no port at the rear, I suppose vertical is ok. Navin has mounted some tubes like that. But check for the rear port.

I would get the 7950 for 9K and JBL 607 for 5K and then add in a pair of 6x9 for 5K later and you should be ok. If you need more volume add a Pio 6200 for JBL 60.4 for 7-8K and if you need more bass a subwoofer and monoblock for 16-17K.

Firstly for 30-35K....

HU: 9K basic Alpine (9881/9883) or Pio 7950 or why not use the Bahamas you got it aint that bad you can use the money saved on either a couple of bottles of wine or damping the front doors or getting nicer speakers (Sam'd choose the former, I'd choose the later)

since you are sold on JBL (are you?) I have worked out a sampel system. You can dothe same for many other brands as well.
Speakers: Infinty 6" components and coax (6020 and 6022): 16K
Amp: JBL 4060 for 10K
Sub: JBL GT4-12 in 1.25 cu. ft box for 7K
optional JBL 301.1 amp

JBL and Blau are not bad speakers atleast not Blau Thx/Thc. Blau GTO is not that good. But I suspect you will like the toanl balance of Infinty better.

as far as be blocking the rear ports on my subs. this is a special case.
a) my subs are not subs but really midbass speakers 6.5" dia
b) these midbass drivers are augmented with a 12" woofer for the last octave (30-60Hz).
c) the reason to block the ports was to tighten the midbass. with the ports the midbass was too woolly. this means there wouldbe less bass but then I got the 12" woofer as well right. So really my "bass tubes" operate only for 2 octaves or so and do not produce much below 60Hz.
d) I have realised (since I have frequented TBHP's ICE) that I am NOT normal when it comes to audio (I used to think I was but Sam insists otherwise). So when doing what I do tread carefully (or should I say tread care-fool-ly).

Hey Optimus Prime, even I would like to know the cost of each part - HU, front speakers and rear. I am also planning to get my ICE this weekend, and my budget is also 10k .

head unit was 6500(w/o bill)... the speakers came for 4k with a company warranty card.
installation was 1600/- so the totall comes to 11600..

i knew the dealer so i got it for ten. (500 off)
and make sure the stuff you buy is genuine.

the ONLY difference between 5950 and 6950 is the display. the 6950 has a dolphin display (whatever that is) i had originally intended to buy either the 7950 or the 6950 but i decided to go for the 6950 because i dont need a usb. then the dealer (friend of mine) told me to go for either the 5950 or the 7950 because the 6950 is pretty useless..

as for sound and output, the 5950/6950/7950 are all the same.
the only difference is
5950 - normal display (good enough imho)
6950 - dolphin display (1k more)'
7950 - motorized panel and usb support (without any extra usb adapter i believe)

my suggestion would be to go for a pioneer 5950 head
with jbl 937 for the back and either 4inch or 6inch speakers for the front.

cheers

i bought it from sp road. the dealer is orion electronics.. it's bang opposite the car park(car mashup is more apt) after you take a right before the flyover which goes to mysore road.

the owner is bhavneet singh, he'll give you a good deal. he also has his own company which has their stuff imported from china. it's called orion and i saw him selling a head unit with dvd player and direct usb support for 6000.

however if you want to stick with brands, pioneer is the best for a budget system. you could always upgrade later on.

Sounds great! Thanks guys, I didn't have a very clear idea regarding the Swift's luggage area. I don't have a sub yet, so I'll probably figure out the mounting when I shop for one. Also haven't figured out whether to go in for an active or passive one.
