I had a friend in the US who used to work as a salesman in a car
stereo shop for many years. As per him, Clarion beats Pioneer easily.

In that case, where will I find one?

I saw it at Bafna Motors in Pune (I got a Pioneer though). The lowest
Clarion was at 9000+ (they weren't selling it without B & W).
I got a Pioneer without B & W which was much cheaper.

if you can get the 3950 then go for it...it has added feature and the price difference is quite less

Thanked: Once

guys, i need to finalize a headunit with usb. there are two choices in front of me. pioneer 7950 (11k+ without b&w) and jvc KD G-635 (around 9k).

i had a demo of the jvc head unit (at the new jbl showrom in kochi). inserted my pendrive in the usb slot and played songs from it. pioneer7950 am yet to get a demo as it was not readily available.

how do you rate these?

There is only a difference of one pre-out b/w 2950 & 3950. Nothing more. Right ?

If the guy is not going for a sub & amplifier setup, then the 2950 will suffice !!!

I think the MP46 is around 10 grand and MP36 is around 8 grand. Both with bill+warranty.

I was told by one of the accessories dealer here that a grey market Head unit is assembeled with original parts but a duplicate lens in Vashi Mumbai. Is this true?

How does Alpine 9856 compares to Blau MP46 and Pio 7950 ? All three seems to be in comparable price range.

Huh? The parts are always 'original' - they would only use cheaper quality parts (electronic components, PCB) and 'drive unit' (the one that actually rotates and reads the CD) - if they want to make a 'duplicate'.

Changing only the 'lens' is not a trivial task (imagine the precision alignment required) nor will it reduce cost.
