Sirji, that is exactly what I was warning him to avoid. Your can likely be for others. Forewarned is forearmed!

Re: Prices of HEAD UNITS

Got an Alpine CD-100 headunit for $100 (Rs.5000) from eBay US and got it shipped to India through my friend. Basic unit, it has a front USB port.

Sounds very good for its price with 4 JBLs.

You also got 4 JBL speakers with it or are you using it with 4 JBL speakers ?

The CDE-100 is available under 5k in India as well.

I have been using DEH-6350BT for more than 8 months now and it's performing really well. I got it for 8k from Dubai and it's price here was 12k then. Now it should be below 10k. I got this since I wanted a reasonable HU which had bluetooth connectivity. It's got USB, aux and external mic. Can pair upto 5 phones with address book transfer facility. Compared to my old HU (sony xplod) this is performing really well. Bass is really good. If you have a sub, the bass level can be kept at 0 level for that "bass" effect. I cant keep above 3 since my wifey gets mad.

What are you looking for mainly? Bluetooth? USB etc?

Sorry for the confusion, JBLs were not included in $100.

Just came across this deal for someone is interested in Single DIN HU of JBL
Pay Rs 2699 to get a JBL car USB/SD card player with 4V – 3 RCA pre-outs, worth Rs 4990 at Reliance Autozone (with free fitment)

Re: Prices of HEAD UNITS

Guys,
Need some suggestions in buying the head unit for my Beat.
I contacted Sachins' Autoshop in Koramangala, Bangalore and they recommended the following head units. I need to know which one of the 4 is better and also is the cost appropriate.

I thought this will give some idea about the pricing of the head units as well.
(all are with bill and warranty)

1. Pioneer DEH-6390SD - 6800/-
2. Pioneer DEH-249 - 5000/-
3. Kenwood KDC-U449 - 5200/-
4. JBL GT-X555 - 5000/-

Please let me know which one would be better - I will never put a Sub Woofer. I might add an amplifier sometime in near future (do not want to change the head unit then)

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Regards,
CT

Re: Prices of HEAD UNITS

Does anyone know if the new head units displayed by JVC at the auto expo are available in India yet? The India website (and actually, even the Japan or USA websites) doesn't list them. However, I can see some available on crutchfield or sonicelectronix. They have an interesting media only receiver with bluetooth and 2ch preouts for as low as $100! Looks good too - I think it's the KD-X50BT. Any idea if I can get it here, and for how much?
