"Small" upgrade huh? With the way your setup is, I find that a bit hard to believe.

IDQ12 v3 or Rainbow Profi 12? Or *gulp* a Vanadium 12? I have my money on the Profi

EDIT: Just saw your post. OMG, you changed the HU! Considering you are back from Japan, a wild guess would be a McIntosh HU

Yes, but an IDQv3 or a profi would be even better

Upgrade Details

Hi Folks!

To kill the suspense. It is indeed a " Small " upgrade. Changed the tweeters to Rainbow Cal26 Silk Dome VOF ( hopefully i have got the model number right). If one recalls the earlier metal domes were playiing a bit bright/forward for me . Moreover, the crossovers had limited attenuation possibilites. Now the change has greatly smoothened things out and the music is playing just beautifully. I dare say my car has never sounded better.Imaging etc are bang spot on. Fill post further reviews after break-in of 10-12 hrs.

Have also had them installed on the sail panels / rear view mirror pods in a customized fibre glass housing. The angle and smooth finish of the pods is excellent.Pics once uploaded will explain the position more clearly. Once again hats of to Mukul of Patel Auto ,JB and Gunbir the dynamic duo from BBW for meticulous work once again as usual. There eye for quality and detail is unparalleled in this part of the world.

Congrats, sk456! The tweeter-pods look great. Great job, as usual by Gunbir & JB! So you now got the setup to the way it was initially intended to be, huh?

Waiting for your review.

Thanks guys.

@anshu_46 - yes the duo do do things well .

@hydra - ya set up now is quite good now. Have been flipping all my reference CD's since yesterday. Im like a school boy with a fresh candy bar. My car resembles a CD shop at the moment. Even still i think an active set up would have made things even better but then the Goddess of Wealth has not been that kind as yet.

Well to be frank for the metal domes the earlier install WAS the better one.. as it was playing too bright in the traditional locations. The kick install did away with that to a large extent with a reasonable soundstage. The earlier install also had an improved integration of highs with the mids.

However, the new tweeter has allowed the install to be done on the SAILS...with an improved soundstage and much smoother highs as per my liking.
