It would also be great if you could include a link to each persons thread (if they have one) along with the above details.

Thanks,

Pardon my ignorance,
but can someone explain to me how a car PC is different in functioning than a laptop with car charger? What benefit does a car PC have over a regular laptop with car charger?

Other than possibly the quality of the sound section, possibly none at all.

However, a laptop is a PC which is portable, in case you have not noticed - where as a car PC goes wherever the car goes, but you can't take it out of the car. In other words, you can drive out to the forest, take out the laptop and peacefully compute by the side of a flowing river (ignore the risk of mosquitos and wild animals for the time being), but you cannot do the same with a car PC. Unless you have a 4x4 and drive into the river, that is.

e tu DerAlte? lol

Laptops inside the car is like an open invitation to steal. That and

* The dc-ac-dc power adopter does not work well. They are noisy (both audible and electro) and generate a lot of heat.
* No touchscreen - either too expensive or requires extensive DIY.

Ah..got it.
But then the car has to have a go-anywhere wireless internet connection for a PC to be usable inside the car. A PC without internet these days is unimaginable.

Also, what are typical usages of a car PC?
Driver cant use it. So is it used for anything else than an entertainment system? Sorry, but I cant imagine someone opening an excel sheet and doing some important work on a car PC, while being driven around in a chauffeur driven car. A laptop is more suitable for that. Car PC is a good exhibition item, but I still fail to see a good use case for it in real world.

Sorry if I hurt someone, but I am just trying to gain some knowledge about car PC.
