ok guys here are a couple of things that i noticed today :

1. well the system is playing really fine but one slight problemo..when i touch speeds of over 60kmph the sound increases quite a bit and the sub plays tighter and the clarity increases quite a bit, but as i drop down the revs and speed the sound seems a bit muted...not too much but the change is easily noticeble..i think this might be a problem related to the battery or the alternator..not too sure..so if it is, the necessary measures to be taken and also does this mean a might need a stiffening cap..

2. as i was heading back home i realised a strange noise coming from the rear..on careful observation i realised that the sound was coming from the left coaxial..the sounds seems like that of jarring sometimes and when i stopped the vehicle and inspected it it sounded more like the rumbling caused by some tiny pebble in the cone area, though checked if anything had accidently dropped into the cone but nothing was found..but when i put my ear to the pole piece of the speaker the rumbling seemed quite evident from the left side.. but my first impression was that of "khar khar" sound as if the speaker is well in hindi u call it "phatraha hey"..ur views on these gurus..

PS : gunbir and JB if ur listening need ur help..

McLaren

Possible solutions for your following problems :

1. Just see whether the ASL (Automatic Sound Leveler) on your HU is on / off. If it is on turn it off. You dun need any stiffening cap.

2. The noise in the coax can be because of some dust particle in the voice coil gap. Take out the parcel tray and use compressed air to take out the particle with speakers inverted.

And stop giving ur car to your Fav. Little Uncle.

Never mind the speed. Sit in the car and see if the same thing happens when you revv a bit. If yes, then do me a favour. See if you can arrange a digital multimeter. Put it in the 20VDC range and check the voltages in these 3 conditions
1) Car engine off, system at reasonably loud level.
2) Car engine on, but foot off the accelerator, system at the same level
3) Car engine on, foot on the accelerator, at a reasonable rpm

And let us know the results.

well thanks a lot sam..will do the same and let u guys know in a couple of days..ahem even i was thinking of the same..i did rev the car when the car was stationary and there didnt seem to be a increase in the loudness on revving..though im not that sure..will do as u asked and get back with the results..

Well JB was right sam .. The ASL was indeed on .. Must blame my bro who had tinkered with the settings the day before i put up the complaint .. Figured that out later ..

And for the 2nd problem , yes the rumbling was evidently from the dust collected on the speaker .. After cleaning the speakers with compressed air they worked fine without a glitch ..

However all that is past now , after the accident i had to cut the RCA's and the speaker wires half way thru as the face plate of the amp needed an allen key which i didnt have handy at the moment .. So had to cut the entire wiring just to make sure i could transfer my entire setup to a safe place ( to v1p3r's car that is ) from where the gathered mob couldnt run away with either the speakers, sub , amp or HU .. However planning to keep the same setup or upgrade a bit depending on the next car i choose ..

Also one of the coaxials is broken and since the cabling has been cut i think i need to pick up a new set of these atleast .. The HU , front compos , sub and the amp are all still perfectly intact ..

Thats why my sig read " In Mourning" a few days back navin .. However the occupants are out without any injuries , cant say the same about the car .. A detailed report of the accident coming up soon , the moment i solve the issues with the insurers .. And ya lastly we werent speeding , it was an unavoidable road accident ..

No one was hurt .. Only two occupants in the car , psycho and myself .. Cant reveal much until i get the insurance issues sorted out .. Which should be done in a day or two .. So the accident report will be up on returning from track day .. Next car not yet decided, all depends on the insurance claim ..
