Thanks for that detailed explanation.

I think this is a common phenomenon across all drivers. One of my friends, used to run buses in one of the most profitable routes of Kerala, Thrissur - Kannur, under the name Sonali. He used to tell me that there was no accurate way to track the actual number of passengers. So some days he used to travel with them and take that day's collection as a benchmark and rest of the buses and crew will be judged on that benchmark. If a set of crew were consistently below the benchmark, then try and replace them, and you should know how tough a task that will be in Kerala given the labour issues.

Yes, the 'Fat' guy. I have not been in touch with him for a long while, but last when i saw him, he had bought some old 'Puzhekadavil' buses and those were being run on weekends and high demand days to B'lore and also on 'non-permit' trips to Trivandrum (the ones that originate from the Marar road exit). I think his B'lore services were also handled by 'Travel Centre'. Not sure though

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

Agree with you generically, but this is not the case always with large fleet operators

Atleast one check point to verify both the luggage and passengers in bus. Mostly this will be in mid night and after which its difficult for the drivers to find passengers.

In many of the large fleet operators there are checkers even for diesel level.

Only if the toll slip is produced they will be reimbursed. If not it will be debited in their salary. This means, if they skip toll they cannot take that money.

But even with all this, there are several cases drivers find loop holes to fill their pockets

No direct buses running in this route as per info available.

However there are a few operators doing Mumbai - Nathdwara (after Udaipur), out of which, Neeta travels have two that originate from Pune.

This place is around 350 kms away from Jaipur and you might have to rely on State Govt. run buses from thereon in case you want to finish this leg off immediately.

Or in case you want to split your journey, the other options are Mum-Ahmdbd and Ahmdbd- Jaipur or Mum-Udaipur and then Udai-Jai. IMHO, it is not worth the effort.

@ All experts : While searching this route on Redbus, I came across a bus, Krishna Ashok Travels (Mumbai) running between Mum and Udaipur, which boasts of an onboard washroom facility. Anybody heard of this.

RTDC has started a direct Volvo bus service between Bombay & Jaipur. It leaves in the evening from Bombay and reaches next evening.

News report on its commencement.

Surprisingly, there is no e-booking for this bus on RSRTC web-site

What news on the Luxuria? Has it been re-launched? Any reviews whether it will be a Volvo-beater?

From Pune both Neeta and MSRTC have Volvos to Udaipur.

Checked Neeta website and they now have a Bangalore Aurangabad Volvo Multi Axle as well via Pune. Journey Time 19 hours

U mean this is the 9400px that has been much talked about in this forum. I haven't seen any pics of the i-shift as yet. The Volvo site has a video link I-Shift - I-Shift : Volvo Buses , but does not work :(

I don't know in detail but "i shift intelligent" (IIRC) is written on right side of this bus.

Heard of an accident about Bangalore-Pathanamthitta bus near Kottayam yesterday. Any info?

It is not the 9400PX. 9400PX is a totally different product, that comes with a 11-liter engine, and 14.5M overall length. This one is the regular 9400XL (B9R) with iShift instead of the conventional manual shift.

SRM operates it in TVM-Alappuzha-Bangalore route. I had taken a couple of pics of the bus before it was registered:

What are the gear levels mentioned ? Is it P N A M or R N A M. And while I guess P or N could refer to Park or Reverse, what does A and M correspond to ?
