Is is possible to walk along the rail line here all the way to the top? It should be a fun trek for rail lovers.

Re: Railway Pics

Very interesting thread. I didnt know that there was so much meaning to the alphabets on each locomotive. A diesel generator generating electricity to run the electric motors to turn the wheels was news to me indeed! After going through the posts on this thread my interest in locomotives has intensified. Will sign up on the IRFCA.
Thanks,
Ashok

Re: Railway Pics

One of those occasions that left me open mouthed and at a loss for words was when I saw the Allegheny locomotive on display at the Henry ford. It was my first (and only) visit to the museum and was not expecting to see any locomotives assuming that it to be an automobile museum. My digi-cam was out of juice by the time I got to the end of the museum where this behemoth is located. That said, pictures and vid's cannot do justice to the sheer size and scale of this glorious machine. You can google - Allegheny Henry ford. Look for pics and videos with people in the frame to give you an idea of the size of this machine.

Re: Railway Pics

Relax and rest in train. I am a frequent traveller to North eastern province. Most of the time I fly from Chennai and Bagdogra Chennai. Occasionally when I want to relax and rest. I book a 2 Ac berth. It is cheaper than a Ac room. It costs around 2000. Get in Chennai central and relax sleep chat see the different people. I order my Meal in Comesum Vijaya wada then dinner in Ambica Vizag and breakfast in Comesum Howrah. What more you want for relax. The train is the best to relax. There won't be Chitheri always.

Re: Railway Pics

Nice thread and I could gain lots of information from all Train is a relatively new fascination for me and with your kind permission, let me add few pics from my side

from the annals of history - perhaps, the last remaining station in Kerala from the British era (to be retained so far in original form), Thenmala railway station seems to be nearing the end of its existence
Railway Pics-336767_235607653150956_100001051681089_710599_5253603_o.jpg

wondered how the sound & silence would have been before & after the last train pulled in & left? the final moments before the bell, the final whistle and then..the corridor at Thenmala railway station

Re: Railway Pics

Can someone post pictures of the Ghat section photos around Nagpur-Itarsi-Amla stretch...used to love it when I was a kid when travelling by TN/GT express (Dad's once in 4 year LTC - AC - I/II class with packed food + snacks at stations - Heaven ).
It was great to see trains travelling down the valley when yours is travelling at at higher altitude.
Was chuffed to bits to see so many folks who are as crazy as me.
