Re: Driving Impressions : Hyundai Ioniq 5

I called 4-5 dealers in Delhi / NCR and they have no idea that IONIQ 5 is car by Hyundai. Some even called it ‘iconic’ while trying to understand the name of the car. The nice ones tried to help by giving me names of their other cars, suggesting that perhaps I might be interested in the Venue. The not so nice ones were quick to put the phone down.

10yrs back when my sister wanted to consider the i20, they annoyingly kept insisting on i10. We thankfully brought home the Jazz. Looks like I finally understand why Maruti had to branch out Nexa. I’m already getting anxious of having to deal with Hyundai service if I somehow manage to book an Ioniq 5.

Update: Finally got through to someone via Hyundai support, who informed that bookings will open online at 8pm.

Re: Driving Impressions : Hyundai Ioniq 5

Quick info that I have gathered so far

- Booking opens @ 8 PM on 20th Dec
- Booking Amount is INR 1,00,000/-
- Cancellation fee of INR 25,000/- (Apparently they had a bad experience with EV6 Cancellations and hence Hyundai is introducing cancellation fee to understand true interest)
- Not allowed to change name, color or variant
- Pricing to be announced in AutoExpo
- Deliveries start in January
- Below is the test link where they are testing the booking portal Launch
- Ex-Showroom listed price is INR 50,00,000. Pls bear in mind it could just be a test number someone has keyed in.
- RWD/Long range battery combo seems to be the ONLY variant on offer going by the best website.
- ADAS 2 does not seem to be on offer based on the feature list. Possibly to bring the price down.

- More imagery and 3D experience available at the below link

Current price displayed at the below link

ADAS Level 2 features are mentioned in this link (which I got from the link you shared above), They have advertised ADAS 2 as an upcoming feature in the Ioniq 5 on their socials, so it should be there.

25K cancellation charge is discouraging, I can't book a car without even viewing it on display at a showroom if it is not free cancellation.

Re: Driving Impressions : Hyundai Ioniq 5

I hope Hyundai will offer the 58kWh RWD version, and price it under 40L. Maybe a couple of lakhs more than the Atto 3.

Hyundai is going conservative with color options. If they could have only done three, Digital green and Lucid blue must still have been options. After all, this car itself isn’t designed for a conservative audience.

I would have liked a 58kwh RWD or a 72kwh AWD. This is neither the performance territory, nor economy.

Noticed they’re skimping on the drivers seat centre side airbag that prevents front passenger collision. Makes me wonder what else might be missing.

The 72kwh RWD version is the top selling and most recommended model by reviewers/media. Because it has the maximum range and for first time ev buyers range anxiety is going to be crucial.

Re: Driving Impressions : Hyundai Ioniq 5

Such uninspiring Colors, needed a couple of nice vibrant Colors. Manufacturers want one lac as booking amount without even disclosing the price, it would have been still ok if it was fully refundable, but 25K deduction is too much.

The greed of manufacturers keep on increasing with every passing day.

Re: Driving Impressions : Hyundai Ioniq 5

So these are the cancellation rules :

- Any modification post booking completion is not allowed (Vehicle trim / colour etc.)

- Cancellation is allowed only before invoicing

Cancellation Charges

- For bookings done prior to launch date & cancelled on or before 17th Jan’23 : NIL

- For bookings done prior to launch date & cancelled after 17th Jan’23 : Rs. 25,000/-

- For bookings done on or after launch date : Rs. 25,000/-

Launch will be done at the auto expo which runs from 13th to 18th Jan 23. The exact day is most probably 17th.

Re: Driving Impressions : Hyundai Ioniq 5

No major feature deletions for the india spec as far as I can see, it even has the heated rear view mirrors, heated+ventilated seats, memory seats function for all seats (including rear), power adjustment for all seats (recline is manual for rear seats).

The model is 99.99% the 72kWh battery RWD version from the range and power/torque figures.

Little disappointed to see no grey/silver colour option as the car looks best in those colours. The gravity gold matte colour is still good though.

Then this would surely be launched at 50L+ looking at the feature set and its a big car too.
RIP Ioniq dreams
