Tata uses LFP batteries which do not lose charge when unused. There is no such need of charging the car in a specific period of time. Charge only when you need to. The only thing Tata recommends is to always charge till 100% and once a month discharge to below 10% to maintain battery health

Seriously, a missed opportunity for Maruti Suzuki. I wonder what happened to Wagon R EV which they tested all these years (approximately 4+ years). I thought Wagon R EV would be the first affordable, mass market EV in India. But Tiago e.v it is.

Kudos to TATA for coming up with a mass market EV for the common man who are aspiring to buy an EV on a budget. There is lot of financial burden on common man due to many factors like covid / post covid, all time high inflation, raising diesel, petrol costs and also CNG costs due to Russia - Ukraine war. Tiago ev would be the perfect car for city commute if given 200 kms real world range and priced sub 10 lakhs OTR. Thank you TATA for catching the public pulse.

A sub 10 lakh OTR price and 200 km Real world range in the same car is improbable. They may use the motor and tech from the Xpres-T to keep costs low to give an affordable starting price point and offer the Tigor EV's motor and tech on the higher variants.

However, if Tata are somehow able to achieve both sub 10 lakh OTR price and 200 km Real world range in the same car, then it would become an instant hit. Hope they come up with it and surprise us all.

Highly unlikely.

200km of real world range is a tough ask even on the Tigor EV and the non Max Nexon EV. All reviews indicate a real world range of 170-180km with AC and with normal driving.

Better to keep expectations realistic.

Is this some out-of-the box thinking by Tata- are they trying to position it above/at par with Tigor EV? By loading it with features, they possibly could justify the higher price tag. If being marketed as city EV, smaller footprint than tigor is actually a positive aspect for zipping through the city traffic. They could even justify smaller boot- not many would complain if being used only for city use. Also, would be a very handy second (the current EV status), utilitarian car in the garage that is easy/cheap to maintain with its ICE sibling.

The tata Twitter thread on Tiago EV is full of disappointed Tigor and Nexon prime owners who did not get dedicated buttons for multi level regen & cruise control. Tata should have updated the existing products before launching such features on a cheaper car.

I don't understand the disappointment, when they enabled these features on the Nexon at least with software. I can control these features through the steering wheel, and don't need to reach out to console to use the buttons. Some people can find anything to crib is what it looks like. Be happy that a manufacturer came out with a feature and upgrade it for previous owners.

The teaser photos are definitely of the TOP VARIANT. Chances of a Restricted / VFM / Stripped Down Variant should ideally be there.
