Just love your HDR effects, especially the glow of the Taj and Hawa Mahal a few pages back.

@shajufx: Thank you sir.

@nilanjanray: Thanks Nilanjan. :)

Pics for today

The Ring (with 18-55mm and a bit of editing in Photoshop)

All below shots are with the 50mm without flash

Long shot. Was playing around with focusing on long distance objects with the 50mm. Such shots do not come out very sharp hand-held.

Thanks! Rajvir. It's a combination of 3 exposures. The normal one was 1/20 f/8 ISO 1600 @ 18mm.

Sunset near Gulani, Maharashtra.

Both the shots were captured at zoom in moving vehicle.
Raw images apart from resizing no processing done.

Remnants of a once glorious kingdom and its artists's creations.

Not yet. The fire still rages on. The actual fire is going on about 20 miles north of the main valley. It had no impact on most of the national park till Friday night. After that the winds changed direction and it filled the whole valley with thick smoke. That's what you see in the pics. We had plans to stay in the valley for entire weekend but had to shorten it to just few hours. The smoke and ash in the air were too much to handle.

Hey Guys,

Quick help needed. I am trying to edit a pic of my kid. He is wearing a red hooded tee. I want to set everything to grayscale and keep the hood red.
I am sorry, I don't know the exact photography terminology for this kind of pic editing.
I Googled up a bit and tried to find the simplest tool which could help me achieve this. Every solution points to using Layering process. I am terribly weak at this sort of editing.

Can someone please point me to a simpler software which could help me ?

I have GIMP, PS and Picasa (doesn't have layering).
I was referring to THIS instruction and tried doing layering using GIMP. Failed miserably :(

HELP please:
An example of what I am trying to mean:
