I am told these are Malabar pied Hornbill. I didn't go to them, instead they visited at my Manipal home.

Great photos, Samurai - and marvellous luck too! How many of us can say a Hornbill comes calling at home? My pathetic attempts from our terrace here is augmented by the dire lack of subjects to try to capture

Another terrific lot - loved the one of the bee (bumblebee?) getting its fill!

i20ian, you too are one lucky bloke, I must say! To have a pea-hen come calling at one's back-yard - that would make my day!

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Shot this Pelican around two years back, which got published on the NatGeo Daily Dozen recently. From my first outing with a Nikon 200-500 f5.6.

Absolutely brilliant shot!! Natgeo daily dozen is a great achievement, but this could fetch you a few more awards for the framing and composure.

Thank you jayant and glad you liked the picture. After having seen it featured in the NatGeo DD, a UK based press/agency has been in touch with me showing interest to buy the picture. It's been few months, haven't had time to sign the contract and revert.

P.S: Work related pressure + my beautiful little baby girl = No birding planned for another year or so, unfortunately.

Here is another one of mine from the NatGeo Daily Dozen, some time back !

The timing is perfect in this one too. I am sure a lot of hard work and patience has gone into both the photographs. You have a thing for birds. I do follow NatGeo DD regularly, I think I remember the Pelican shot.

I have a few pics which I have clicked but not as good as yours. Will soon upload them in this thread.

What camera and lens kit do you use for birding? I already see you have a Nikon 200-500.
