Thanks Clevermax and evo8.
And wow, that 50mm is razor sharp. Have been thinking about this lens to replace my 1.8.. Very cute photograph..

Shaju,
Congratulations! That 1.4 was on my mind (if you remember) from a long time, but I haven't got one yet. Let me see when I can replace my 1.8. But, I am in mood to be honest, the G1 with 20mm f1.7 is giving me awesome results ;).

Clevermax,
Seems like all of us are moving to the 1.4 bandwagon, lovely shot of your daughter there. At f/8 that's a pretty awesome DOF, what's the crop factor like? (just want to calculate the EFL).

Kaushik,
Like I commented to flickr, may we get to see more such paintings in our lives. Sunsets have been one my main inspirations to pursue photography :).

Pramod,
I like the shot and the lighting, but I think the emphasis (more so from lighting perspective) is on the box than the watch. I think another reflector or a honeycomb to light the watch dial would have made this shot a classic one!

I was at Yosemite last weekend and managed to get these two shots. Was planning to post only the landscape, but as I see portraits of beautiful kids, let me add one that I love, my niece Saanvi. Here they are,

EDIT: Both were shot with a Panasonic G1 and 20mm f1.7 lens. The more I use these two in combination, the more I love them.

Pramod

Nice one pramod, but I think you went little overboard with the softening of the pillow, or whatever thing on which the watch is wrapped around :)

Thanks pramod, kaushik & HW!
@HW: The crop factor is 1.5 on my Alpha 200. Cute kid, your niece!

Good work, but mention the set up when you post such images. There are few learners here like me. Is it a single soft box shot ?

First one is really good.

Here is my test shot with the home-made soft-box and reflective umbrella. Strobist is something which I always underestimated to be an easy ball game, but its very tough, hope to learn the basics in 6 months. Present stage is: no idea what is missing, no idea whats to be enhanced :D

Reflective umbrella from the left of cam, soft box from right of cam very close to the subject, also natural window light. 50mm, f/8, 1/60, ISO-100 all Manual. Reflection is created by a CD cover, background white is a large thermocol sheet ! Need to change location and see the difference later.

With mails flying around about the 19th being "Supermoon" day guess we would be seeing a few more great moon shots. Will wait till next week :)

19th the Super Moon day will be Photographer's Delight!!

On March 19, the Moon will be only 221,567 miles away from our planet. Point your eyes and camera lenses toward the night sky on 19th. If the sky is clear, you’re gonna get an exceptional celestial treat. The Giant Moon

Thanks for the feedback guys,

@ Sunil, i have not touched the pillow in this image :D

@ hellwrath, i have enhanced the dial a bit.

@ Saju, yes a DIY softbox was used.

Pramod

Went to Hebbal lake one more time ( I lost count ). I entered the gate and saw 2 canon 400mm guys, then few Nikon uncles (late 60s). Started searching for something 'unique' and voila a gang of girls with Olympus, Pentax, Canons and Nikons !!! They talked more than clicking. Walked to one end, oh God, this area is full of DSLRs on weekends ! You focus anywhere other than the water, there are few tripods or super tele lenses in the frame. I never miss attention with my D90 & battery pack & the 70-200 big enough to get a curious look.

Thought of doing some 'self' shoots, atleast I have not found anyone similar looking so far :)

50mm, f/8, ISO-100, 1/250 sec, self-timer exposure. All Manual

After an hour, I could not find a single spot without DSLRs walking around, so thought of leaving the park/lake. About to see the exit gate, wowww a 25 member on-training gang walks in !! I could not find any familiar faces in it, but heard the Trainer talking non-stop about ISO and Manual settings. :D

Welcome to a 1 acre area with 40+ die hard DSLR owners !!!

Here is one from my home made soft box
