Thanks infotech58. To be very frank I am a complete newbie as far as photography is concerned. That day I started clicking pics just to see if it is at all possible to capture lightning photographs. Equipment used is Nikon D80 with 18-135mm kit lens and a tripod. F stop 1/4 and 1.6 secs.
I had taken about 200 snaps of which I uploaded about 5 in facebook. This one got the highest response, so thought of posting it here. I will post the rest of the shots and let please me know which you like most.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Anyone has market option enabled in 500px? Managed to sell any pictures? If yes, please share any tips & hacks that helped. I recently enabled sale of several of my pictures there. Till now, I am of the impression that it's just a concept and won't work. (I know about professional stock image selling sites like Alamy, because wife works there )

Very unique capture, kids open up unlimited potential for powerful images. I should try more now. By the time we execute our ideas, they will be big

I have a paid account with them, but never tried the store options. I believe you need to upload high resolution images if selling prints are in mind. Many sites take up more than 50% of the revenue. There are friends who are regularly selling through redbubble. I can pass their numbers to you if required, let me know.

From all the image sites I have seen so far, 1x.com keeps a totally different standard and quality check which none else has in place. If you want to know it personally, try creating an ID and uploading an image. They wont approve it unless it meets their quality standards. So, if you upload 10 images (only one at a time until it completes the evaluation process) and get one approved into the public album, you are too good a shooter Dont even think about the paid account there, its around 12k per year whereas 500px is just $50 !!!!

Thanks Shaju. 1x.com sounds to be tougher than Alamy & likes to get in. In Alamy you upload 4 images first, then 4 of them has to go through QC and all of them must pass in order to get your account enabled. There is a long list of requirements for a picture. Low noise, no CA, not over processed, no distortions, not tilted badly, no artifacts, saved in 100% quality, uncompressed file size must be above 25MB or so.. and it goes on. I am getting in anyway :P

One of my picture (a better version of what is posted above) is currently in 500px popular front page, just uploaded it today!
The Official non-auto Image thread-popularno1.jpg

I think flickr is dead. 2 views in flickr for the same image against 615 views in 500px.

I had voted and put that in my fav hours back Its worth being in the popular page. Flickr is dead and its almost the same fate of orkut probably very soon, although they have changed the entire layout lately.

I also have enabled store in 500px.com, but was not able to sell single. Your image doing amazing, let me know if that image is able to sell.

I also able to sell few photos on macrostock photo website fotolia and dreamstime but they pay in macro, so stopped uploading.
