I guess the 450D scores well on the price/performance card. What do you say?.
450D is available at around $670 (brand new) on ebay and B&H photo
Yes I agree with you. Thanks for the thread. Lovely photographs in there.

Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 AFS
Nikon SB900 strobe

Manfrotto monopod
8gig Memory flash card
That's a really really fantastic kit. I envy the 14-24 very much. It's a fab lens.

I agree.
Nikon sorely needs the 28/1.4 for a APS-C DSLR segment but since the D700 is fullframe the 35/2, 50/1.4 and 85/1.4 would cover most settings. TG, try KEH.com and see if they have a 28/1.4 on sale there and get it.

Nikon has almost always had fab glass. but I see a hole between the 14-24 and 70-200. the 24-70/2.8 would fill that nicely. Funny why Nikon does not provide VR for it's 24-70 (or 17-55).

Congrats for the FX camera. Oh boy, do I love it? The body itself costs a lakh and ten in the grey market here. I sorely need a 2nd body and also a big glass - something similar to the Bigma.

Will have to rob a bank to fund my desire...

And so here is one pic from my side,

That's some hardware dear. Wish you had added the famous 24-70 to this kit as well...

And yes, I'm still trying to get up after the fall....

They've always been a strange company. The 80-400 VR is the longest consumer VR lens you can get from them but its AF is sloooooooow. Its been in their line up for ages and needs an AF-S upgrade sorely. No luck.

Same with the 24-70 - VR is an inexplicable omission. Then out of nowhere they introduce groundbreaking glass like the 18-200 DX VR. And the sub-$200 APS-C normal prime - 35mm/1.8 DX AF-S. It's one quirky company for sure. Is Canon as erratic?

Thanks friends, I am now getting into a whole new ball game, and I can really feel the suffocation! Hoping to get a lot of input from all of you guys!

@Starscream
Thanks for that, well I went for the 50 1.8 as I had seen a lot of work people had done with it. I was very impressed, especially since its a very cheap buy. And haha, breaking the bank wasnt an option! I just wanted some equipment that would help me do justice to the time and effort I put into photography. Hoping for some substantial returns too. I totally agree with your lens gyan, theonly reason i didnt go for the 80-400 is the slow autofocus, still I think its an incredible glass.

@Navin
Yeah there is a definite hole in the 24-70. I am checking out a sigma 24-70 f 2.8, thought of researching a bit and then going for it. Any clue on the performance? I liked the fact that its an f 2.8 and way less expensive than Nikon. Any input on this will be extremely helpful guys.

@NomadVagaBond
Thanks for that buddy. Yeah 14-24 made me fall off, not yet recovered.

@TSEA
Well, time flies so quick! Thanks!

@kpzen
No. No plans to start my own auto threads! Haha!

@gd1418
Thanks buddy.

@Redrage
Thanks man.
