Monthly cleanup maintenance. No shoes allowed in the room. No cats in 100 yard radius .

Thank You. The CCFLs are connected to an on/off switch which can be used as and when required.

Got myself a small upgrade. New config:

Core i7 920 (D0 stepping)
ASUS Rampage 2 Extreme
ATI/XFX Radeon 5870
G.Skill Trident F3-12800CL6T-6GBTD (6GB, DDR3 1600, CAS6)
WD Caviar Black 1TB in addition to previous five HDDs

Full watercooling. Switech Apogee XT on the CPU, EK FC on the GPU, 2x Thermochill 3x120 rads, 2x Laing DDC5 pumps and assorted accessories. The watercooling gear is still enroute, so the machine is now running on stock (blech) cooling.

1) Nice!
2) Asus, I hope you never have to go in for RMA.
3) What was the cost ?
4) 3 X 2 GB ?
5) After total 6 HDD's do you any space for intake fan ?

A few questions ? What was the total cost of upgradation ?
Why did you not consider Core i5 ? I think they are reported to at par with i7 base version you are having.

Planning to get the i7 octal core in 2010. That needs LGA1366, hence the choice.

1) Wow, looks like the HDD are also getting a cool dose of air. I find it pretty weird that the intake fan does not throw air directly onto the graphic card, but the three intake fans are more than sufficient.
I hope they are 92 or 120 mm. 80mm fans with this high system configuration is too less.

2) I must say, considering the upgrades, this is an OK figure. If I were to do the same, around 80K would be spent. Did you buy online from sites like theitwares or techshop ?

3) Are you sure that Core i7 with 1366 socket will come in 8 core config ? I think that the 8 core is for server and socket is 1566 not 1366. The highest number of cores for 1366 will be 6 in the form of Core i9. AMD will release Thuban 6 core processor as well. But Core i7 8 core processor is doubtful.

Whaa!! That's almost 5 TBs of storage. LBM, do you plan to store your car in your Hard drives?

Also, Where do the "more coming soon" go ? The 8 SATA ports available on MSI are all taken. Are you planning to use the eSata port or, maybe, an expansion card ?

Do post some pix

These are the pics of my two rigs The main rig is having Velociraptor and 500 gb. The other rig has all the other drives including two 160 gb drives. The download rig keeps working for 24 hrs and all the data is kept there.

Will be adding few more TB`s to the download rig as I have just add a PCI to 4 port SATA card and one PCI to 2 port SATA. So now I can put total of 11 HDD in that rig.
