Despite the widespread use of 'ROM' and 'Storage' interchangeably, they are not the same! 'ROM' = Read Only Memory. So, by definition, it can't be written on, unlike 'Storage'!

Marketing and Sales people using them to mean the same thing don't know what they are talking about!

It is not that I don't know the technicalities, but I had used such an explanation in layman's terms and for easier understanding. Now for a better explanation of ROM and Storage, here goes:

ROM (Read-Only Memory) is non-volatile and used for permanent storage. It does not require a constant power source to retain information.

Storage, on the other hand, refers to various types of memory (such as hard drives, SSDs, or USB drives) used for storing data, files, and applications. Unlike ROM, storage can be read from and written to.

1. Hisense U7K (not finding it in stock anywhere)
2. Sony Bravia 3 S30 - Seems pricey at 80K for the specs vs the Hisense
3. Toshiba M650MP - seems like an older mini LEd model to the U7K

We decided on this by simultaneously watching the same Porsche Car Vrroom Vrroom video, to judge colour depth and picture clarity and listening to both the TV’s back to back with the same video to make a decision.

Whatever one may say, Sony is Sony. No two ways about it. Which is why we chose it.
Very happy with my choice of the Sony Bravia 3 55" purchased a few months back. Between Samsung, LG and Sony, the Sony wins hands-down in all aspects, particularly the picture/colour clarity! Compared a lot of models from all 3 brands, but unless you have the budget for an OLED of any of the 3 marquee brands, there is no better mid-range offering than the Bravia 3 at the moment, IMHO.

My other house is being renovated at the moment and I'm surely opting for the 65" Bravia 3 for the living room there.

Re: The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.

Basically apart from ROM and RAM, there is a third type of Storage - EPROM. This is electrically programmable ROM, that is it can be re-written and does not require power to store the data. This is used mainly to store your configurations, current state (if needed after power loss). The car Odometer now a days has this type of storge.

Whats a good 24 inch TV for my fathers bedroom? Should have all features. He is extremely happy with VU but someone damaged the panel. Should I stick with a new VU at Rs 6K?

If you are on a strict criteria of 24 inch and 6k, go for the VU again, else do consider an upgrade to 32 inches for around 7.5 to 8k, here are some good options if you do consider the upgrade:

1. https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0BWYSYFQS/...l001h7VOQ&th=1

2. https://www.flipkart.com/infinix-80-...ef4VN8001SeZZJ

3. https://www.flipkart.com/iffalcon-tc...ef5jkj001D8V1y

With Flipkart's sale starting midnight i.e. 7th March, all of these will drop to below 8k and would have credit card offers as well. The last one from IFFALCON by TCL is a TV I have personal experience with and is very good.

Xiaomi is more popular nowadays in terms of price, features, durability and after sales service. In last few years, all mine and relatives' TVs are Xiaomi. Buy from Amazon or Mi india app. Also buy extended warranty from Mi or oneassist.

You can accept the offer, considering this as additional cost of TV. Enquire Samsung for extended warrnty plans. Consumer forum can be approached even after spending money on this repair.

I always see return/replacement policy before buying any appliance. Refrigrator and TV got replaced due to this habit.

Having said that, these brands also honour if you have proper evidence (you have unpacking video), approach their higher authority/grievance cell. Sometime social media has more impact, can also try that route

Re: The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.

I am looking for a 65 inch OLED TV, preferably the ones that have flush fit on wall (for aesthetics). Like LG G3/G4, Samsung S95C, etc. Any recommendations on the cheapest one with my requirements? I don't really care about features, so older models are fine too.
It will be in a well lit living room, hope OLEDs don't have too much glare - any thoughts on this?

Here are some options worth considering:

1.Realme TechLife CineSonic 65 inch Ultra HD 4K Smart LED TV (65UHDGDRWSXP)
https://www.flipkart.com/realme-tech...fPySff001yUzwm

2. Motorola Envision X 65 inch Ultra HD 4K Smart QLED TV (65UHDGQMBSGQ)
https://www.flipkart.com/motorola-en...fPzFiK001sxYKj

3. Xiaomi X Series 2023 Edition 65 inch Ultra HD 4K Smart LED TV (L65M8-A2IN)
https://www.flipkart.com/mi-xiaomi-x...fPzjUM00182fcA

Although I am not in favour of these brands and would prefer brands like Sony, Samsung, LG etc, those are priced quite high, well over 50k

However, besides the top three, if I wanted to get a 65-inch TV under 50k then these are a few options I would consider:

1. Hisense 164 cm (65 inches) E6N Series 4K Ultra HD Smart LED Google TV 65E6N (Black)
https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0D3X966VS/...8001iNT1b&th=1

2. TCL V6B 164 cm (65 inch) Ultra HD (4K) LED Smart Google TV with 24W Dolby Audio and Metallic Bezel-Less (65V6B)

You could select from one of these options-

https://dl.flipkart.com/s/zUzUwNuuuN

https://amzn.in/d/3T7uKXB

The only problem with Samsung is that they doesn't support Dobly Vision.

Re: Decent, budget friendly 55" TV?

My sister in Mumbai is looking to replace her aging VU 39" (H40D321) TV bought in 2018.

Please suggest a decent brand/model of 50" - 55" screen and budget 30K - 40K. The use case is mostly for OTT platforms and occasional local SD channels.

This would be a festival purchase and she can buy it offline in Mumbai OR else online. We would appreciate, if you could share the links along with recommendations.

You may check the following budget models and make a choice:

1) Hisense - https://www.reliancedigital.in/produ...rch_collection

2) Toshiba - https://www.reliancedigital.in/produ...rch_collection

3) BPL - https://www.reliancedigital.in/produ...rch_collection

Do compare the prices across all online platforms, as well as offline stores if possible.
