I bought a Voltas Inverter AC after hearing about this warranty. Was considering the premium brands, but none had warranty beyond 1 yr for electronics. And as we all know, the electronic boards of Inverter ACs are very expensive.

This is a very tempting offer. I have delayed my purchase of 3 ACs by 1 month because of this offer. Prior to this I was reasonably sure that I would go for Daikin or Mitsubishi.

This offer puts voltas back on the agenda.
Though any warranty offer is only as good as the service backing it up.

I have one query. My co-brother is opening a small office and wants to install a split AC in one of the cabin. One of his business friend is the owner of famous electronics shop (don't want to take the name of the shop here) in Bangalore. That person has suggested an Haier AC for him. The model that he has suggested is HS-13CNMW. This is 1-ton inverter model. The compressor comes with 12 years warranty!!!
I searched the net and did not find any info on this model. Only thing that i found is, this seemed to be imported directly from China. And he has offered him the price of 32k, including installation and rest of the charges.
Now, my question is, how good is this Haier brand? How safe it is to go with a imported model? 12 years warranty for a compressor, can this be real?

A friend installed 8 Haier Heat pump AC in his new flat, and he is very happy about it. As long as there is a service backup most AC are fine. Haier being a relative new comer in appliances here should be a VFM brand.

My sympathies on Samsung. Same issue here with Samsung at my folks place at Hyderabad. Samsung aluminum coils are a 3~5 year limited life product, depending on usage, as per their own service people.

We were given the same quote and runaround by their service guys, but were fortunate to stumble upon an option of a Toshiba ODU with copper tubing, fitted by our local AC Mechanic.

It cost around 10k too, but atleast he stands by his product for a years warranty and is available on call. It's been 2 weeks now and chugging along well in this sweltering Hyd heat.

From my limited experience with various brands including Daikin, LG and Carrier, unless you get a lemon, stay far away from deep cleaning and other such services as opening the box seems to accelerate End of Life for these service unfriendly systems.

@ARoy; Remember Haier is a pucca Chinese brand. I have nothing against the Chinese, but the way they go about masking the fact does not give me that much confidence.

All companies are manufacturing in China buy no one highlights that. What with BMW/Merc/sony/samsung... maybe not the complete product at times but significant % of their components.. no one advertises the chinese badge..!

A large percentage of goods are manufactured in China - most of electronics and white goods. It depends on the brand and their QA, that differentiates one brand from another. Apple and IBM have a fantastic QA, so every one swears by their quality. On the other hand you get a lot of Chinese stuff at 1/3 or less, and that is where the QA comes in. If they have a rigorous QA then the goods are fine, if there is limited QA (to make goods inexpensive) then you have a problem. From what I have heard of Haier in Delhi, their white goods are comparable to others in quality, but they have a very good after sales service which works for them, much better than well known brands that have developed a Snob Value both with customers and their service personnel to the extent that getting them serviced at reasonable cost has become a pain.

In the long run it is the service which will separate the long distance runners from also ran.

So i have a vu tv (55" ) that came with a 3 yr replacement warranty. It is a direct import from a chinese co with the only value addition (if u could call it that) being the sticker change. The tv worked hassle free for 3 yrs compared to Sony which blew its HDMI port on the wrong side of warranty duration.... dont even get me started on the price differential btwn the 2....!

Update on my Sharp AC. The internal cooling coil has leaked and needs to be replaced. Cost 14500 + 3000 for gas Total Rs 17500. Completely ridiculous. Going to replace this AC with a Daikin of General.
The Sharp Mumbai regional head whose num I had has also quit recently due to "problems" and the CEOs number printed in the manual is out of service.

Guys I recommend everyone to avoid Sharp Air Conditioners as far as possible

Yet more time has passed and we have heard nothing about our replacement part. It is making a joke of "AMC." Complete waste of money.

You should have stuck to your ground and escalated it. Service centers are almost always outsourced. Which means the so called Daikin SC will not do anything to transfer your service request (they have nothing to gain but lot to lose).

Escalation to the company would have resulted in an immediate result. Particularly a tweet can yield amazing results!

One simple suggestion. Avoid Samsung like plague. And when I say that I don't mean just their AC (Samsung AC?! Whats that anyways?) but any product. My experience with them with different products has not been so good. Their products are like ticking time bombs. And their general "we are like that only but then we are Samsung" attitude sucks big time. One frequently used ploy with Samsung is that the model is not in the market anymore. And if you raise a stink they will say "we will return you a prorata purchase price". Often that means take 25% to 30% of the purchase cost after 3-4 years and feel happy about it.

I am saying this with my experience of owning Samsung's so called premium products (which are all made in Seoul) as well as a couple of desi made products. They all run into some problem or the other within just 3 to 4 years.

Have a Samsung refrigerator 320lits purchased in 1998 and still going strong. One more from 2006 zero issues. Have a 2T AC from Jan 2006 and runs perfectly. Only expense on the AC has been a capacitor change for about 750rs.
Have a dishwasher from 2012, two washing machines (2010 and 2014), again nothing major so far. Just my experience, I don't work for Samsung.

I would like to hear from anyone using multi split air conditioners.

I am looking to air condition two of my bedrooms. I have a huge loft over the terrace next to a water tank to locate the compressor part and i don't mind a bigger unit for the same. Piping length will be about 15 feet to one room and about 25' to the other room in such case.

Could anyone having such an installation share a few bits ? thanks.

If it matters, location is Bangalore.

I have a similar experience with our Samsung window AC. Had to change capacitor once, but has been running like a charm for 11 years. In fact this was the cheapest AC in our house and is much better than 2 other ACs we have including an expensive window AC from hitachi which is a constant source of problems and fails to cool the room.

The Hitachi is just 4 years old and the Samsung is likely to outlive it. I am fed of paying for expensive brands which just don't live up to the promise.

In my personal experience Samsung and Voltas have worked better
