whats the best phone under 5k?

my main priority is messaging and battery life!!
looks and mp3 ringtones are secondary
camera is not of great importance.
bluetooth and memory slot would be nice as addition but not urgent!

I have a Nokia 6301. I went to get it unlocked to 4-5 places and everyone say that it can be unlocked for only for Vodafone. Any reason why it cant be unlocked for Airtel when its quad band?

does E51 for 6k sound as a good deal??
whats your opinion on this phone!!is it worth buying for texting purpose?

i have this phone and it is quite good. Are you getting it second hand ?\

It is a very sturdy. Back side though is fingerprint prone, its classy. features are rich.

only sore points to me are

1. Camera is lousy
2. Display is small.

its second hand.im not bothered about the camera as i wont be using it very much.
btw,how is the keypad.(cause i do a lot of texting)
and what about the battery life?any pointers?

keypad is quite good but not great.

battery is amazing. get it for 3 days with moderate usage

hey vivek. i suggest you skip g1

here is why. just my opinion.

not worth $150. i used it for a while and then sold it.
not much app support. low battery life. not too good user interface (ex iphone 2g and existing iphone 3g user).

i also didn't like the looks of g1, though this varies from person to person i don't like it. also i am used to microsoft exchange in iphone, not there in g1 so a bit more prob for me.

major gripe is lack of 3.5mm jack for headphone. which is frustating. and camera is more or less same as iphone. not too good. may be a little bit gud quality. videos can be recorded by recent upgrade, but its too grainy for my liking.

this is just what i felt about g1 which made me sell it for 3g. hope this helps you.

i guess newer version would be better as and when it comes out. android platform is good though
